Patent number: 5551613Abstract: Auxiliary holder for releasably stowage of a tensionable measuring tape, comprises a back panel formed of leather or like material. The back panel has a front surface terminating in top, bottom and side edges. In one embodiment, a pair of slots are formed in the back panel after which a front panel is attached therebetween wherein a tight-fitting pocket is formed. The back panel also includes a rectangular notch or opening used to stow the cantilevered leg of the rear drop shaped clip of the measuring tape. Attachment of the holder to the user's body is via serpentining the user's belt through the pair of transversely spaced slots constructed in the back panel wherein the serpentining begins at one of the slots in which the non-buckle end of the belt passes through from the front surface of the back panel through the slot and thence along the rear surface of the back panel and out the other of the slots.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1994Date of Patent: September 3, 1996Inventor: Casimier L. Patent number: 5450994Abstract: An auxiliary holder for a sprocketed measuring, tensionable measuring tape having a conventional clip with a free leg thereon comprising a back panel having top, bottom and side edges, a front panel connected to the back panel to thereby form a pocket therebetween having a first transverse opening, a rectangular notch formed in the back panel extending from the bottom edge and at least one clip attached to the back panel for attachment to an individual. Wherein, in use, the clip of the measuring tape is inserted into the first transverse opening of the pocket and the free leg disconnectably resides within the notch formed in the back panel.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1994Date of Patent: September 19, 1995Inventor: Casimier L. Patent number: 5388741Abstract: An improved tape-measure using and holding assembly (10) that includes a tape measuring cavity (24) and an adjacent implement cavity (26). Into the cavity (24) is inserted and held a conventional tape measure (50) that includes a tape-release, slide-lock (52) and a spring-biased measuring tape (54). Into the cavity (26) may be inserted a variety of pencils, pens and other small implements used in the trade. The assembly (10) which is integrally and preferably made of a hard impact plastic has a right section (14) that includes a tape-release slot (14E) through which projects the tape-release slide-lock (52) and a tape-measure opening (14F) through which the measuring tape (54) maybe extended and retracted to allow tape measurements to be made while the tape measure (50) is securely held within the cavity (24). On the back surface of the back section (18) of the assembly (10), is located a pair of protrusions (181) having belt slots (18J) through which is inserted a waist belt.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1993Date of Patent: February 14, 1995Assignee: Huei-Yen LiaoInventor: George Hillinger

Patent number: 4757927Abstract: A holder is provided for suspending a measuring rule or similar object, to which is attached a spring clip having an inwardly declined deflectable tongue portion thereon. The holder is of relatively flat configuration and is adapted to be inserted over or upon the belt of the user. It may be of generally U-shaped configuration, with an outer leg having a laterally extending slot configured to receive the tongue portion of the spring clip and defining a relatively narrow lower edge element about which the rule can swing freely, so as to minimize any tendency for inadvertent disassembly. Alternatively, the holder may be of generally rectangular, plate-like form and with edge slots through which the belt is inserted, while still retaining the lower edge feature described. The construction of the holder facilitates one-handed attachment and removal of the rule, without diminishing the security of interengagement afforded.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1985Date of Patent: July 19, 1988Assignee: The Stanley WorksInventor: Edward C. Patent number: 4605335Abstract: Quick-release connecting apparatus for mounting an object on a belt includes male and female members, respectively attachable to the object and the belt. The male member has a stud projecting therefrom with a teardrop-shaped button or flange at its distal end which has the same configuration as a teardrop-shaped opening in the front surface of the female member, which opening communicates with a circular recess in the rear of the female member and larger than the opening. The button is insertable axially through the opening and into the recess, permitting rotation of the male member about 180.degree. to an attached position wherein the button engages the bearing surface at three spaced-apart locations. The stud has arcuate surfaces which can engage the edges of the opening when the male member is disposed in the recess for inhibiting translational movement of the male member except during insertion into and withdrawal from the opening.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1985Date of Patent: August 12, 1986Inventor: Edward C.
