Patent number: 11982086Abstract: Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC), owing to its superior mechanical and durability properties, presents a unique opportunity for innovative use in unbonded post-tensioned floor systems. In unbonded post-tensioned (PT) slabs and beams, the use of cast-in-place steel confined UHPC Bond Anchors (UBA) can be used to anchor steel prestressing strands for better durability, increased strand ductility, cost-effectiveness, and ease of installation. A conical, steel confining device is used as part of the UBA. The device resists hoop tension and eliminates splitting cracks in the UHPC during prestress transfer. It also helps to reduce the anchorage length. High average bond stress helps reduce the UBA length, and consequently, the material consumption. The bond stress at the strand-UHPC interface can be increased by intentionally roughening or indenting the strand.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2020Date of Patent: May 14, 2024Assignee: Iowa State University Research Foundation, Inc.Inventors: Sivalingam Sritharan, Satish Hansmukhlal Jain

Patent number: 11852177Abstract: A concrete anchor capable of resisting large loads while requiring minimal embedment depth. The system includes a concrete structure including a cylindrical opening in the concrete surface thereof. The system also uses an anchor which includes a sleeve and a plug. The sleeve includes at least two legs extending toward a first end of the sleeve. The plug includes an increasing diameter portion disposed toward a first end of the plug. The plug includes a locking opening. After installation, legs of the sleeve extend radially outward past the wall and the increasing diameter portion prevents inward movement of the legs to lock the sleeve and the plug in turn in the concrete cylindrical opening. Furthermore, dynamic loading on the plug via the locking opening when the anchor is in use generates a dynamic radially outward force on the legs to secure the anchor in the concrete hole.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2021Date of Patent: December 26, 2023Assignee: BLACK & DECKER INC.Inventors: Thilo Pregartner, Mark Cerbone, Matthew Chamberlain

Patent number: 11215263Abstract: A bidirectional, wedge clamp is disclosed. Conventional clamps, such as those used with electrical cables mainly secure a line in a single direction. The invention herein being comprised of a bidirectional clamp for conventional cables, wires and rope etc. (herein referred to as a ‘line’) having a simple and easily-operable construction, wherein two plate-like members and an outer sleeve-like member are telescopically assembled to clamp a line there between. Plates and sleeve members having a plurality of interconnected, opposing number of wedges that when acted upon in a lateral motion by a line there between, causing said wedges to slide against one another—thereby tightening down the plates onto said line and preventing slippage. An object of the invention is to clamp a line and prevent slipping laterally in either direction along the line's longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2019Date of Patent: January 4, 2022Inventor: Niraj Patel
