Abstract: A fastener formed by an elongated member with an apertured tip, such as a filamentary string, that is attached to a bi-directional locking head with longitudinally opposed openings. The elongated member is inserted into either of the opposed openings of the head, where it is engaged and locked in place by an internal, at least partially circumferential ring. Once the apertured tip is inserted into the locking head it remains in its locking position even if the filamentary string becomes separated from it as a result, for example, of pilferage.

  • Patent number: 4557023
Abstract: A tie band, particularly for tying elongated objects, such as wiring harnesses, which consists of a strap tongue toothed on both sides, a toothed clamp wedge, and a clamp head which receives the clamp wedge and the strap tongue which is to be clamped and which has two opening surfaces which lie opposite one another and converge in the shape of a wedge, and of which in each case one is provided to support the wedge and the other to form, in conjunction with one wedge surface, a clamp gap for the strap tongue. In order to achieve greater holding power, the opening surfaces are also toothed, expediently so as to form a complementary match for the toothing of the strap tongue.

  • Patent number: 4532679
Abstract: This is a cable tie which has a head or frame at one end of the strap with the other end of the strap being constructed and arranged to be inserted through a transverse opening or channel in the head. The head has two opposed pawls which are spaced apart a distance somewhat less than the minimum strap distance with the pawls being differentially mounted or constructed so that the cable tie will stand up to or handle maximum stress conditions more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 4514882
Abstract: A device for retaining in side-by-side relationship flexible tying means such as shoelaces comprises two relatively rigid clamping members and a relatively flexible linking member joining the clamping members. The linking member is adapted to permit the clamping members to be folded so as to lie one against the other so as to firmly retain the flexible tying means in side-by-side relationship between them. Means are provided for resistantly locking together the clamping members in the position in which they are folded against one another. The device is applicable in particular to the self-service retailing of shoes.

  • Patent number: 4510650
Abstract: A wire bundle or cable clamp primarily adapted for use in the aviation industry is disclosed. The clamp includes a flexible strap having a serrated portion and a strap receiving member to which the strap is mounted onto the strap receiving member and is biased to engage the serrations of the strap. The strap includes an enlarged head at one end and the strap receiving member includes an opening on one side thereof to receive and hold the enlarged head of the strap when it is inserted in a direction perpendicular to a plane formed by the central axis of the strap when the strap extends around a wire bundle or the like so that the enlarged portion of the strap may be looped around the wire bundle and then inserted into the strap receiving member while the other end is secured in the strap receiving member by the pawl. The free end of the strap extending beyond the pawl may then be grasped and pulled to tighten the strap around the wire bundle.

Each clamping limb (11, 11') comprising a rigid portion (14, 14') joined to the first tool bearing portion (12) by a web hinge (16 or 16') at one end of the limb (11 or 11') and joined by another web hinge (19 or 19') to a flexible wire engaging portion (15, 15') adjacent the second bearing portion (13) such that on urging the tool bearing portions (12, 13) together, the clamping limbs are changed from erect to collapsed clamping conditions with deformation of the wire engaging portions (15, 15') into clamping engagement with wires. A latching tongue 25 is received in a latching eye (36) to latch the cable clamp in the clamping condition.

Abstract: A disposable one-piece security sealing device primarily intended to surround the neck of a bag or like package comprises a strap (1) having an enclosure (3) at one end defining a passage (4) through which the other end of the strap is irremovably insertable to an adjustable extent as a result of interaction between a plurality of teeth spaced in a row along the strap with a resiliently deformable member (4b) which is integral with the housing and situated at or adjacent a bend (4a) in the passage; characteristically an identity or pull-off tab (6) is formed as an extension of the strap around and beyond the enclosure for tearing when required along a line of weakness which extends round the enclosure (3) and terminates in a side edge of the strap. By tearing along that line the end of the strap having the tab (6) is separated from the enclosure (3). There may be two rows of teeth on the strap and the enclosure would then have a passage formed with two channels to accommodate the respective rows of teeth.
