End-to-end Integral Band End Connection Patents (Class 24/20EE)
  • Patent number: 5001816
Abstract: For the connection of two edges of areal parts which extend at least along one common section essentially parallel to one another, at least one retaining element is arranged at the one edge which form-lockingly engages from behind, as viewed in the edge direction, in a recess in the other edge. At least one projection arranged laterally offset at the one edge in relation to the retaining element in the direction of the engagement from behind, abuts form-lockingly at the part with the recess essentially in the edge direction. For the connection of the terminal edges of open ends of a ring-shaped clamping band, analogously a retaining tongue is provided, preferably in the center of the one edge with lugs projecting on both sides from the tongue which form-lockingly engages from behind in an essentially congruent recess in the other edge also arranged essentially centrally.

Abstract: A clamp structure especially for use in applications in which space conditions do not permit any projecting parts such as plastically deformable ears, and in which outwardly extending hooks adapted to engage in apertures are used to mechanically interconnect the clamp structure; to enable tightening of the band about an object to be fastened, cold-deformed pressed-out embossments are provided in inner and outer band portions, which extend generally in the circumferential direction so that each pressed-out embossment remains integral at least on both sides thereof, where the tool-engaging surfaces thereof are able to withstand very large tightening forces in the circumferential direction which permit a secure tightening of the clamp structure.

  • Patent number: 4490888
Abstract: The clamping-band is equipped with a split inner ring with an eccentric bore. A rigid inner half-collar partially surrounds the inner ring by means of runners forming with the ring a ball and socket device, and terminated on one side by one securing tab. A rigid outer half-collar partially covers the inner half-collar and terminates on one side in a second securing tab. The two securing tabs are equipped with oblong holes which are facing for the purposes of securing and clamping the collar.

  • Patent number: 4478437
Abstract: This invention relates to a radially expandable locking sleeve device and to a gasket apparatus for providing a fluid tight seal between a pipe and a porthole in the wall of a manhole riser. The gasket is in the form of a tubular element of elastomeric material. An annular recess is provided in the inner surface of the gasket near one end for receiving a radially expandable split sleeve having interlocking end portions. The outer circumferential surface of the locking sleeve is so arranged as to continue uninterruptedly across the area of the interlocking end portions, and the end portions when engaged lock against both lateral displacement and circumferential collapsing of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4442155
Abstract: A longitudinally divided cable sleeve characterized by a strip-like sleeve member which is composed of a heat-shrinkable material and has two longitudinal edges with reinforcing inserts to form first and second edges with reinforced portions, and coacting closure elements for joining the edges together with the elements on the first edge being bent from strips of material and having a head portion that is received in a slot or opening in the second edge. Preferably, each of the elements bent from a strip of material has a link portion, which is received in a slot of the first edge up to an abutment surface and a projecting closure part which is inserted through the opening of the second edge is provided with a latch element to prevent accidental and unintentional disassembly of the closure elements after the projecting closure part is inserted through the opening of the second edge.

  • Patent number: 4442154
Abstract: A split sleeve of a shrinkable material having closure elements comprising projections and apertures for receiving the projections adjacent each edge characterized by the projections being integral tabs which are cut out from a portion of the sleeve and folded along the line inclined to the edge of the sleeve. To improve the stiffness of the longitudinal edges, reinforcing members may be partially embedded adjacent each edge with the closure elements formed therein or entirely embedded in the material of the sleeve member with the enclosure elements formed therein.

  • Patent number: 4430775
Abstract: A banding strap for attaching a heat shield to a muffler comprises a strap for encircling the muffler and heat shield, the strap including an underlying end segment and an overlying end segment, each including outwardly projecting shoulder sections providing abutments for crimping to interlock the end segments and tighten the strap around the muffler and heat shield. The outwardly projecting shoulder section in the overlying end segment forms an inwardly opening bight for receiving the outwardly projecting shoulder section in the underlying end segment. Each shoulder section includes an inwardly projecting indentation so that the indentation of one of the shoulder sections nests within the indentation of the other of the shoulder sections when the shoulder sections are engaged to prevent lateral misalignment of the end segments with respect to each other.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a retainer strap for use in holding together and/or supporting wires, hoses, ropes, or the like. The strap comprises a head portion and a tail portion. The head portion is comprised of a section of the strap folded substantially onto itself so that two spaced-apart apertures in this portion of the strap are substantially aligned with one another. The tail portion is adapted to be inserted through the apertures in the head portion to form a loop of adjustable size. After being looped, the retainer strap may be placed in either holding or locking configurations. No tools are required to either install or lock the strap of the present invention.

Abstract: An ovalized cross-sectional shaped bale-tie wire for use in baling materials includes a body portion and engaging looped members formed at each end of the body portion. The process for manufacturing an ovalized cross-sectional shaped bale-tie wire includes the steps of withdrawing round wire from a wire drum, straightening the round wire, passing the straightened wire through an ovalizing mill to form the ovalized cross-sectional shaped wire, accumulating the ovalized cross-sectional shaped wire, controlling the length of the wire by predeterminely cutting the wire preforming simultaneously the engaging looped members on the trailing end of the leading bale-tie wire and the leading end of the trailing bale-tie wire and bending the looped end portions out of the plane of the body portion of the bale-tie wire.

  • Patent number: 4241727
Abstract: A structural assembly comprising a preformed connecting member and a tubular member to be integrally connected in surrounding relationship by said connecting member without requiring separate fastening means for effecting such connection. The structural assembly is particularly well adapted to be joined with similar structural assemblies into an elongated solar energy absorber panel structure. The connecting member and the tubular member are held in virtually inseparable engagement with each other with the connecting member surrounding and generally conforming to the outer peripheral shape of the tubular member by deformable sections of the connecting member which define interengageable locking means comprising strut lock shoulder and tooth sections. Deformation of the shoulder and tooth locking means into progressive contact ensures inseparable connection of the connecting member with the tubular member.
