  • Patent number: 6272721
Abstract: The present invention provides a bezel attachment configuration for securing a detachable bezel to a metal chassis. The bezel attachment mechanism preferably includes the combination of a modified bezel post extending from and integral to the plastic body of the bezel and a bezel snap that is attached to the post. The post includes at least a first region and a second region, where the cross-sectional area of the second region is less than the cross-sectional area of the first region. The difference in cross-sectional areas creates a lip between the first region and the second region that the bezel snap catches on if moved in an upward direction towards the top of the bezel post. The lip of the post acts as a barrier to further movement of the bezel snap, thus providing a secure attachment of the bezel snap to the bezel. The secure bezel snap is inserted into an opening in the metal chassis.

  • Patent number: 5598609
Abstract: Provided is a fastener for temporarily securing a windshield to a vehicle body opening in a reliable manner without modifying the vehicle body structure. The base of the fastener is provided with an attaching surface adapted to be attached to a cooperating fastener on a major surface thereof, and a cavity is passed through the base substantially in parallel with the major surface. The clip may comprise a pair of clamping pieces bent from a strip of sheet metal, and one of the clamping pieces is pushed into the cavity to join the clamping piece with the base, and a flange of an opening of a vehicle body is pushed into the gap between the other clamping piece and the corresponding wall of the base. The clip may be appropriately provided with barbs to ensure secure engagement of the clip to both the base and the flange. The last mentioned wall of the base is preferably provided with a break so that the barbs provided in the clamping pieces may engage the two sides of the flange.

  • Patent number: 5584549
Abstract: The cabinet for a front serviceable appliance includes a pair of side panels with a lower and an upper support extending between their lower and upper front corners respectively. Tab and slot arrangements mount a front panel on the lower support for pivotal movement between a first position, juxtaposed to the side panels, and a second position, angled away from the side panels. A plurality of locking clips secure a top flange of the front panel to the upper support. A top panel is spaced above the top of the front panel sufficiently for access by a tool to release the front panel from the upper support. Pin and slot arrangements align the front panel with the side panels.

  • Patent number: 5526553
Abstract: A spring clip for releasably attaching a first member, such as the carrier of a fascia panel cover, to a second member, such as an electric component rack module. The spring clip is anchored to a support plate extending from carrier. The spring clip has two forwardly extending U-shaped spring elements that cooperate with a locking tab and a rearwardly extending U-shaped spring element. Deformation of the forwardly extending spring elements during installation of the spring clip causes the locking tab to snap onto the lower edge of the support plate, thereby firmly anchoring the spring clip to the support plate. A latch extending from the rack module engages the rearwardly extending spring element so as to secure the fascia cover panel to the rack module. Application of a force to the rearwardly extending spring element causes elastic deformation of the forwardly extending spring elements and disengages the locking tab.
