Patent number: 7703184Abstract: A device for forming a seal includes upper and lower seal members, and a slider, wherein mating surfaces of the seal members interlock. In at least one embodiment, a lifting rib and closure bar on the slider cooperate with a lifting wing and closure bar groove on the upper and lower seal members, respectively. By moving the slider in one direction, the lifting rib lifts the upper seal member from the lower seal member. Moving the slider in the opposite direction causes the upper and lower seal members to interlock. In another embodiment, a slider has an intermediate lateral member connected on one side the slider top, and connected on the other side to the slider bottom. A breakaway sealing device is also provided, allowing a person to break the closed seal. A beginning stop block is also provided that includes a means for securing the upper seal member.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2008Date of Patent: April 27, 2010Assignee: Gore Enterprise Holdings, Inc.Inventor: Ben Meager

Patent number: 7506416Abstract: A closure assembly includes a slider for opening and/or closing an elongate closure mechanism including a pair of opposing closure members. The slider includes a first separator finger and a second separator finger, each of which is articulably connected to a hinge member. The first and second separator fingers extend between the closure members and may be articulated between a closing position, in which the separator fingers are adjacent each other, and an opening position, in which the separator fingers are laterally spaced from each other. In the opening position, the separator fingers urge the members apart. Closing bars and retention members may also be included to facilitate re-closing the closure members and retaining the slider in an operative position thereon.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2006Date of Patent: March 24, 2009Assignee: S.C. Patent number: 7313847Abstract: The CTF Flip-N-Zip slider enables the purchasers of a zipper with the CTF Flip-N-Zip slider installed to disconnect at least one side of a zipped zipper and return it to the starting position. Current fixed sliders are very hard to fix if a foreign object jams the zipper or if the zipper opens behind the slider. CTF Flip-N-Zip slider requires only that the owner disengage the lock and remove either the top or bottom plates or half plate depending on the design. This is shown in the drawings for a releasable latch pin of the slider. The owner would then return the zipper to the starting position and reattach and lock the slider and start over using the same slider. Other designs currently in consideration are push button releases, hinged plates with hidden lever, draw activated releases, etc. Sliders will be made to fit all available zippers and zipper materials.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2006Date of Patent: January 1, 2008Inventors: Christopher Theodore Felix, James Marvin Williams

Patent number: 7134192Abstract: The closure device (121) includes interlocking fastening strips (130, 131) and a slider (132) slidably disposed on the fastening strips for facilitating the occlusion and deocclusion of the fastening strips (130, 131) when moved towards first and second ends thereof. A slider (132) is provided for facilitating the attachment of the slider (132) onto the fastening strips (130, 131) in the horizontal X axis (102). The slider (132) provides resistance against the removal of the slider (132) from the fastening strips (130, 131) in the horizontal X axis (102) and the vertical Z axis (106).Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1999Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: The Glad Products CompanyInventors: Alan F. Patent number: 6721999Abstract: Disclosed is a device for creating a seal which includes an upper seal member, a lower seal member, and a slider, wherein mating surfaces of the upper and lower seal members interlock. A lifting rib on the slider cooperates with a lifting wing on the upper seal member and a closure bar cooperates with a closure bar groove of the lower seal member. By moving the slider in one direction, the lifting rib lifts the upper seal member from its interlocking relationship with the lower seal member. Moving the slider in the opposite direction causes the upper and lower seal members to interlock. Also disclosed is a seal device which includes upper and lower seal members and a cooperating slider and plug. Each of the slider and plug cooperate with first and second mating surfaces of the upper and lower seal members. In addition, the slider and plug have an exterior tongue and groove portion which cooperate to interlock the slider and the plug.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2002Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: Absolute Closure Innovations, Inc.Inventor: Ben Meager

Patent number: 5871281Abstract: A plastic bag closer slider has a separator normally resting in notches in the tops of slider track strips, when the slider is at a bag-closed stop. As the slider is moved in the bag-opening direction, the separator is cammed downward by ends of the notches to disengage interlocking profile features and open the tag. In another embodiment, notches are omitted. The separator is manufactured with a normally down position but is resiliently biased upward when the bag is closed. As the slider is moved in the bag-opening direction, the pointed end of the separator wedge descends between the strips to open the bag. When the slider is moved in the bag-closing direction, the separator is cammed upward by the drag of the strip tops and the tapering walls of the slider squeeze interlocking profile features together, closing the bag.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1996Date of Patent: February 16, 1999Assignee: KCL CorporationInventors: Robert C. Patent number: 5675909Abstract: The generation of volatiles from liquid or solid materials is enhanced and accelerated by exposure to microwave radiation. Normally the energy transfer is effected preferentially toward the liquid or solid materials over the generated gaseous volatiles. Sufficient energy is provided at a selected rate that enhances the generation of volatiles to effect removal as vapor or to produce a pressurized vapor phase. Flow-through separations from a matrix having a microwave-absorbing liquid component are conducted by exposing to microwave radiation to vaporize this component and processing the vapor either by flowing through a selective permeable membrane, or by enclosing the vapor and matrix in a confined space and flowing matrix through a selected separation medium, and recovering residual matrix. These separations are particularly useful in analysis contexts.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1996Date of Patent: October 14, 1997Assignee: Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of EnvironmentInventor: J.R. Patent number: 5301394Abstract: A plastic reclosable fastener or zipper with slider detent lock for locking the slider in closed position on plastic-film bags and the like is disclosed. The slider includes two spring-loaded detent elements located on opposite sides of the separator finger on the slider. When the slider is at any location other than the fully closed position at the end of the fastener, the spring-loaded detent elements ride against the outside surfaces of the flanges by which the separator finger opens the fastener. When the slider reaches the location at the end of the fastener where portions of the flanges have been removed to provide a notch, the spring-loaded detent elements spring inward against the sides of the separator finger. There they resist an attempt to move the slider in an opening direction because this requires that they be forced outward over the flanges of the zipper.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1993Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Dale S.
