Patent number: 8691036Abstract: A reusable hose bundling sleeve is provided that is made of a tightly-woven nylon material coated with urethane. Strips of hooks and loops are adhered and stitched to opposite ends of opposite sides of the sleeve. The reusable hose is installed by wrapping the sleeve around the hoses or cables such that the strips of hooks and loops align and engage. Notches can be cut along the length of the reusable hose bundling sleeve to allow for shorter hoses or cables within the sleeve to exit. Because of the materials used, the notches will not weaken the fibers and cause fraying. The sliders are oriented and mechanically or adhesively joined into chains. Mechanical assembly of sliders may be accomplished by snapping sliders together or slideably mounting sliders on a strip. Sliders may be adhesively assembled together by taping, welding, gluing, or melting the sliders. Sliders and chains of sliders are accumulated in cartridges, carriers, coreless rolls, spools or trays which are then connected to form, fill and seal machines for attachment of the sliders to a zipper and attachment of the zipper with a slider to bags.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1999Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Inventors: Alexander R. Patent number: 6162522Abstract: A loop material suitable for use with a hook-and-loop fastening system, wherein the loop material includes a first fibrous nonwoven web having a first surface and a second surface and includes carded sheath-core bicomponent staple fibers in which the fibers have a sheath-core melting point differential of at least about 20.degree. C. and a length of from about 10 mm to about 65 mm. The first fibrous nonwoven web has a thickness of at least about 0.15 mm and a basis weight of at least about 20 grams per square meter; a pattern on the first surface thereof of continuous bonded areas defining a plurality of discrete unbonded areas formed by the application of heat and pressure, wherein individual fibers within the discrete unbonded areas have at least a portion thereof extending into and bonded within the continuous bonded areas; and a percent bonded area of from about 20 to about 50 percent. If desired, a film layer may be bonded to the second surface of the first fibrous nonwoven web.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1998Date of Patent: December 19, 2000Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Ganesh Chandra Deka, Samuel Lee Sykes

Patent number: 6129964Abstract: A storage/dispensing assembly, e.g., a roll or stack, of non-woven pressure sensitive adhesive tape comprising one or more multilayer sheets of pressure sensitive adhesive tape arranged such that the adhesive layer in the assembly of an overlying non-woven pressure sensitive adhesive tape is in direct contact with the underlying nonwoven backing layer of non-woven pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The non-woven backing layer is formed at least in part of fibers having a denier of greater than 15 so as to decrease the level of fibers disengagement when an overlying nonwoven pressure sensitive adhesive tape is removed from the assembly.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1997Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventor: Jayshree Seth

Patent number: 5997981Abstract: A composite material adapted for mechanical fastener use as a loop fastener component with a complementary hook component is made by laminating a film with an amorphous polymer layer to a prebonded nonwoven web under conditions producing laminate bonds corresponding to the prebond locations, and loose filaments or fibers between the bonds. The composite also desirably has a MVTR of at least about 100 g/m.sup.2 /24 hours and a hydrohead of at least about 50 mbar. In use as a component of a disposable personal care product such as a disposable diaper, the loop fastener component may be substantially the entire backing, providing comfort, protection and highly variable fit.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1997Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Ann Louise McCormack, William Bela Haffner, Wanda Walton Jackson

Patent number: 5945193Abstract: A fastening component of a separable fastener has some portion that is necessary for its fastening function, such as the space adjacent the fastening elements, the base to which the fastening elements are attached or a substrate that is used for another purpose, comprised of a magnetically attractive or electrically conductive porous metal containing layer. The fastening component may be the hook portion or the loop portion of a typical fastener. The fastening elements and the base may be unitary, or of different precursors. The porous metal layer may be embedded in the base portion of the fastening component, or any backing substrate, or therebetween. The porous metal layer may be fully or partially embedded. The porous metal may be an expanded, perforated, woven or non-woven structure.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1995Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: Velcro Industries B.V.Inventors: Samuel White Pollard, Donald L. Patent number: 5876532Abstract: A method for manufacturing a laminated assembly having a first layer with a face secured by an adhesive to a first face of a second layer having a meshed structure and having loops projecting from its second face. The method includes the step of depositing and adhering a thin film onto the first face of the second layer under controlled adhesive quantity and viscosity conditions so that the deposited film divides by itself to clear the mesh zones and to be converted into longitudinal and/or transverse beads.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: AplixInventor: Jean-Philippe Billarant
