Independent, Headed, Aperture Pass-through Fastener Patents (Class 24/453)
  • Patent number: 4524494
Abstract: A detachable fastener comprises a central shank provided at one end thereof with a head portion and at the other end thereof with leg pieces of the shape of legs of an anchor movably connected through respective hinges to the aforementioned other end, and a receiving part adapted to receive external force and formed as connected to the leading ends of the leg pieces projected from the aforementioned other end of the central shank. In this fastener, the receiving part on receiving an external force causes the leg pieces to be bent about the hinges and the free ends of the leg pieces to be converged.

  • Patent number: 4523731
Abstract: The inner end of a hollow shaft (12) is releasably attached to a flight vehicle (2) by a ball-plunger type quick release mechanism. A rod (22) is axially slidable in the shaft (12) to release the shaft (12) from the vehicle (2). A plate (34) extends radially from the outer end (16) of the shaft (12) and abuts an outwardly facing surface of an external store (4) through which the shaft (12) and the rod (22) extend. The rim (48) of a cup-shaped retainer (42) interlocks with plate (34) to rotatably secure retainer (42) to plate (34). A solenoid (52) engages an arm (44) on retainer (42) to rotate retainer (42), release the interlocking engagement, and allow a spring (68) to move the retainer (42) axially outwardly. Retainer (42) contacts a shoulder (74) on rod (22) to move rod (22) axially outwardly. This releases shaft (12) from vehicle (2) and allows shaft (12) and store (4) to be separated from vehicle (2).

  • Patent number: 4517711
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for clamping two plates with their surfaces laid on each other, comprising a hollow head, a hollow trunk provided on each side with a side catch and provided with a tongue between its opposite sides, a leg extension hinged to the trunk and provided with a front catch, and a foot integrally connected to the end of the leg extension. In use, the leg extension is folded to fit in the trunk hollow space, and at the same time, the foot is pushed in the head hollow space. The folded body is pushed in a fixing aperture made in a first plate until its side catches engage the undersurface of the aperture edge. Then, the first plate is pushed against a second plate with the folded clamp inserted in a fixing aperture made in the second plate until its front catch engages the undersurface of the aperture edge of the second plate.

  • Patent number: 4517710
Abstract: A fastening clip is disclosed for use in fastening a component with a hole through it to a surface which also has a hole through it, in particular for motor cars. The clip has a supporting plate 5 extending at right angles to the axis of the clip and a rectangular body 6 connected thereto. The body 6 is connected to the holding plate 5 by way of expanding and locking arms connected to one another by integral bending areas 13, 14, 15. The expanding and locking arms 11, 8 and 12, 9 respectively are actuated by bending the body part 6 through 90 degrees to a position where it can be locked relative to the holding plate 5.

  • Patent number: 4504168
Abstract: Structure for connecting two members together, each including parallel, spaced apart, oppositely disposed, opposed surfaces having a cross section including a short straight portion adjacent one edge thereof, a longer obliquely extending portion extending from the other edge thereof and merging with an arcuate connecting portion which intersects the shorter straight portion, which surfaces are complementary and arranged to be in engagement with the members assembled. In one modification of the invention, the oblique portion of the surface cross section starts prior to the plane of the short straight line portion of the cross section and crosses it prior to merging with the connecting portion of the cross section.

  • Patent number: 4499636
Abstract: A fastener comprising a male member formed of a flat base, a clipping shank provided on the underside of the base, and a pillar erected upright from the upper side of the base and provided at the leading end thereof with a head, and a female member formed of a tubular part, a pair of depressing blades raised through thin-walled hinges from the tubular part and projected parts provided at the lower ends of the depressing blades. This fastener provides the fastening of a compressible sheet such as an insulator sheet or carpet to an interior decorative panel in an automobile, for example, by having the tubular part set around the pillar of the male member with the depressing blades kept in an upright position, causing the head of the pillar to force the depressing blades down to a level position thereby bringing the projected parts into fast engagement with the underside of the head of the pillar and nipping the compressible sheet fast in position between the male member and the female member.

  • Patent number: 4495380
Abstract: A combined metal and plastic standoff for supporting a circuit board in fixed spatial relationship with another element comprises a rigid plastic body of appreciable length to produce the standoff effect and a metal retaining member integrally mounted on the plastic body at an operative end thereof. The metal retaining member has main and retaining portions, the main portion being fixedly disposed within the plastic body and the retaining portion extending outwardly from the plastic body having a resilient reverse bend segment, and being adapted for engagement with the circuit board or other element by an essentially longitudinal motion of the standoff along the axis of the body length to physically secure the circuit board or other element to the plastic body adjacent to the operative end.

  • Patent number: 4485531
Abstract: A pin comprises a head portion, a shank portion, and an end portion flared gradually to a dimension transverse to the pin axis greater than the shank portion. The end portion is slotted to afford resilient resistance to entry and withdrawal into a hole. The pin head portion is disc-like, the shank portion is of uniform circular cross-section about the pin axis, and the shank merges gradually into the slotted end portion to define an hollow oval merging at the tip as a bight, the end portion thus being adapted for snapping into a suitable hole. The pin is especially adapted to use with a circuit element carrier having an inverted U-channel in which the element is carried. The element may be inserted into a pair of holes in the top and bottom wall of the inverted U-channel, so that the shank of the element serves as a stop to prevent longitudinal escape of an element beyond the pin shank. The pin may be withdrawn after insertion and reused in the same or other holes of the same or other like carriers.

  • Patent number: 4470737
Abstract: The invention relates to a one-piece plastic fastener that has a shank, an enlarged head on a rear end of the shank, and resiliently movable bifurcations at the front end of the shank, the medial portion of the shank being wider than each of its ends to provide a shoulder and being flexingly contractable widthwise so that the fastener enters aligned holes in workpieces to be joined with a snap action. The shank is bifurcated along its length, and the forwardly opening slot between its bifurcations or legs is partially bridged by a tension-adjustment member, formed integrally with the bifurcations along one side thereof and extending inwardly from the side of the slot for a predetermined distance. The member controls or determine the amount of force required to move the legs or bifurcations toward each other during insertion into or removal of the fastener from the hole in the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4441234
Abstract: The cufflink includes a decorative head element disassembly assembled to a shank and keeper unit. The decorative head element has a hole in which the shaft head with the aid of a spring which is mounted inside the element. Disassembly is achieved by pushing the two parts together, turning one about the shank a quarter turn and letting go. Within the element cavity a vertical rib is medially formed on the rear wall. The rib is horizontally notched intermediate the opening and edge of the element. The bow of the spring is received in the notch ad is resiliently loaded by a retainer located at the bow. The securement plate on which the round-tipped projection is mounted in the cavity so as to project outwardly in the hole is formed as a thin, dished portion of the vertical rib.
