    Abstract: A buckle apparatus for use in a seatbelt system for a vehicle designed to protect an occupant in an emergency situation of the vehicle includes a buckle body into which a tongue plate is inserted. A lock plate is moved in a direction orthogonal to the tongue plate inserting direction and is engaged with an opening formed in the tongue plate, and portions of the lock plate on both sides of its portion engaged with the tongue plate are supported by the buckle body, thereby reliably obtaining a sufficiently large tongue plate holding strength. When the force applied to the tongue plate such as to pull it out from the buckle apparatus is relatively small, a resilient member retains the lock plate, together with the tongue plate, in such a manner that they are separated from the engaging portions of the buckle body.

On both sides of opening contact surface for bolt are provided in locking case member to hold it firmly in the direction of force of the safety belt.

    Abstract: A belt lock, particularly for the vehicle safety belts, comprising a lock housing (10) and a lock tongue (11). The lock housing forms a guide between two plates (12, 13) for receiving the lock tongue in the lock housing, and an ejector (23) is provided in the lock housing. The ejector can be displaced against spring bias by the insertion of the lock tongue into the guide. The lock housing is provided with a manually operable latch mechanism comprising a ball (21) which can be displaced in an aperture (22) in one plate and is spring-biased to engage a seat formed by an aperture (27) in the other plate (12) to be received in this position in an aperture (35) in the lock tongue with the center of the ball located in the aperture in the lock tongue while the lock tongue is retained against withdrawal from the lock housing. The latch mechanism also comprises a manually operable member (77) for displacing the ball against the spring bias.

    Abstract: A buckle apparatus for use in a seatbelt system is arranged such that when a tongue plate is inserted into a buckle body, the tongue plate retaining portion of a lock plate pivotally supported on one side of the tongue plate insertion passage extends through an opening formed in the tongue plate and projects out to the other side of the insertion passage so as to engage with a subsidiary lock plate. Accordingly, the lock plate which prevents the tongue plate from being undesirably pulled out is supported by the buckle body on both sides of the tongue plate and therefore can bear a large load. To release the tongue plate, the subsidiary lock plate is pivoted so as to disengage from the lock plate, which requires only a reduced force.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a novel pivot structure for a seat belt buckle wherein a base plate of a seat belt buckle is connected to an anchor stay by way of a pin and spring means interposed therebetween in such a manner that the buckle may pivot relative to the anchor stay about the pin along the major surface of the anchor stay and, additionally, away from the major surface. The spring means biases the buckle toward a neutral position in which the buckle aligns with the axial line of the anchor stay. Thus, the seat belt buckle is maintained in a relatively rigid state relative to the anchor stay so that a tongue plate may be easily aimed and inserted thereinto. However, once the seat belt is securely fastened by the engagement of the tongue plate and the seat belt buckle, the buckle may pivot in any direction relative to the anchor stay and therefore will readily bend to conform to the body of the person wearing the seat belt and improve the comfort in wearing the seat belt.

The buckle includes a latch member engageable with the tongue, a U-shaped base defining an opening in the direction of insertion of the tongue and supporting the latch member turnably, and a bridge secured to the lower end of the base and having engagement portions which when the tongue is in a state kept in engagement with the latch member, are kept in engagement with the tongue at two points. Owing to this structure, the tongue can be firmly held without play and the buckle can withstand large forces and moments applied thereto by way of the tongue.

    Abstract: A buckle apparatus for use in a seatbelt system is arranged such that when the tongue plate of the seatbelt is inserted into the buckle body, the pawl of a lock plate is inserted into an opening formed in the tongue plate. Since the projecting end of the pawl is separated from the corresponding opening formed in the buckle body, a relatively small force can release the tongue plate from the buckle apparatus. However, when the force applied to the tongue plate for pulling it out from the buckle apparatus increases, a lock plate holder is deformed by virtue of this force. In consequence, the pawl engages with the opening of the buckle body, and retaining wings provided on the side of the lock plate remote from the pawl also engage with the corresponding portions of the buckle body. Accordingly, the lock plate is supported by the buckle body at two portions on both sides of the portion thereof which engages with the tongue plate, so that the lock plate can bear a large tongue plate pulling out force.

A pair of helical springs are positioned between a latch and a main body having first slots for receiving one edge of a reinforcement plate pivoted downward depressing the latch springs and snapping into place into a yieldable hook shaped portion. A push button is positioned between the reinforcement plate and the cover having a skirt interferingly extending between the plate and main body securing the assembly together. The plate includes a pair of legs extending on opposite of the tongue mouth and into the main body transferring plate load into the main body of the buckle. The push button includes two legs fitting adjacent and inward of two arms of the latch in turn limiting outward travel of the button legs. An alternate embodiment includes a third leg depending from the plate.

The slide has a pair of side sections which are engaged by either the actuator pad of a top release buckle or the actuator slide of an end release buckle. The side sections of the slide have cam surfaces which move the latch bar between the engaged and disengaged conditions. The side sections of the slide member have blocking surfaces which hold the latch bar in the engaged condition.

    Abstract: A central belt lock, particularly for a parachute harness, includes a housing, a main pin or journal which is manually rotatable and axially movable therein, and an anchor plate which cooperates with a plurality of retaining bolts for the belt attachment or coupling members. There is dealt with the problem of allowing the belt attachment members to be released and thus disconnected from the lock even if the parachutist for some reason is unable to actuate the lock manually, after making a jump over the sea. Therefore, a central belt lock is provided to be activated by sea water and can be released thereby, without affecting the function thereof when operated manually. For this purpose, the main journal (2a) has at least one longitudinal bore in which a push rod (12) is mounted so as to be longitudinally movable. An actuator (20, 27) is associated with the push rod and is actuated when coming into contact with water, axially moving the push rod (12) and hence the anchor plate (5) with the retaining bolts (6).

    Abstract: A vehicle seat belt buckle has a flat tongue part with latching edges, and a socket part with spaced parallel plates defining a socket within which the tongue can be received. A latch member slides at right angles to the plane of the tongue to engage the latch formations to retain the tongue within the socket, the movement being imparted by latch member portions received in grooves of a push botton slidably guided for manual movement in the direction of insertion of the tongue. A spring urged detent retains the push button and thus the latch member in the release positions and is itself released by a portion of an ejector device when this is moved inwardly in the socket on insertion of the tongue. In a modification a spring biassed ejector prevents return of the latch member to its latching position after release of the tongue.
