  • Patent number: 8740117
Abstract: An apparatus mounted on a tractor processes caked and compacted poultry litter while still located in the poultry house to initiate a composting process. The apparatus engages the caked poultry litter with a primary beater assembly formed with toothed beater paddles to aggressively disintegrate the poultry litter into small pieces. The primary beater assembly rotates in an undershot manner to convey disintegrated poultry litter upward and rearwardly from behind the primary beater assembly into a processing chamber housing an auger mechanism formed with cutting blades along the periphery of the auger fighting to further disintegrate the litter. The auger mechanism conveys the collected poultry litter laterally for discharge from the apparatus into a windrow where composting activity can initiate. The auger mechanism includes single auger flighting at a remote end of the auger and a double auger fighting at the discharge end of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8528843
Abstract: A bale splitter (1) for mounting on a front end loader arm of a tractor' comprises a support framework (5) having a plurality of tines (7) extending transversely therefrom for supporting a cylindrical wrapped bale (2). A pair of carrier arms (15) pivotally coupled to the support framework (5) carry a cutting blade (20) for splitting the bale (2) and for simultaneously cutting wrapping material of the bale (2). The cutting blade (20) is slightly spaced apart from the tines (7) for preventing cutting of the wrapping material (4) adjacent the tines (7) so that the wrapping material remains in one single integral piece after splitting of the bale (2). A grab (30) comprising jaws (32,33) is supported on the support framework (5) to abut the bale (2) when supported on the tines (7), and for gripping the wrapping material (4) prior to operation of the cutting blade (20) for cutting the bale (2).

  • Patent number: 8146846
Abstract: A wear liner for use with a brush cutter, the cutter having a cylindrical, rotatable, cutting drum carrying cutting teeth and a cover at least partially covering the drum to limit dispersal of cut material. The liner comprises a sheet of material which can be shaped to fit against the inner surface of the cover. The liner has holes on its sides for use in detachably connecting the liner with fastening means to the cover against the cover's inner surface. The liner has protective means mounted on its inner surface adjacent each hole to protect part of the fastening means located adjacent the inner surface of the liner, when the liner is mounted to the cover and the fastening means extend through the opening, from wear by material thrown by the cutter during its operation. The invention is also directed toward a brush cutter incorporating the liner.

  • Patent number: 6659378
Abstract: A mobile field shredder adapted to move continuously through an orchard, pick up pruned branches from the ground, and shred the branches into sawdust and small shredded pieces. The front end of the shredder includes a pair of counter-rotating feeder rollers for picking up the branches. A shredding chamber receives the branches from the feeder rollers. First and second shredder rollers within the shredding chamber, include plural knife blocks on their respective outer peripheries. The shredder rollers are driven in tandem, in the same direction. A chamber screen is provided at the after end of the shredding chamber, in close proximity to the second shredder roller. The shredder rollers reduce the size of material so it is can pass through perforations in the screen. The consistency and size of the shredded material is such that it rapidly decomposes in the field and enriches the soil in the orchard.
