  • Patent number: 10556238
Abstract: A method for drive control of a vertical mill having a grinding plate rotatable about the vertical axis by a drive train composed of an electric motor and a gearbox is disclosed. At least the electric motor and the grinding plate represent inertia elements in a system that can oscillate and are connected by the gearbox operating as a torsion spring element. A variation in the rotation speed of at least one of the inertia elements is measured, and the electric motor is governed by a controller that minimizes the measured variation in the rotation speed. The controller is parameterized for governing the electric motor so as to minimize maximum reaction torques resulting in the gearbox when applying a sinusoidal excitation.

The roller mill is preferably provided for the comminution of cement clinker or granulated blast furnace slag and comprises on a grinding track of a rotating grinding pan stationary, rotating grinding rollers and between the grinding rollers stationary, rotatable preparation rollers which compress and remove air from the grinding bed. In order to increase the efficiency of the grinding process and at the same time to reduce the energy requirement the position of the preparation rollers is changed in such a way that the grinding material fed spirally to the grinding rollers is completely rolled over and compressed by the previously arranged preparation rollers. The preparation rollers are, seen in a top view of the grinding pan, positioned radially in the direction of the grinding pan center and roll with their running surfaces on a smaller running ring than the associated grinding rollers.

The journal loading system 20 provides electronic control and adjustment of the force applied to the journal assembly 19 to thereby increase or decrease the load that a grinding roll 18 imposes on the material being pulverized. In the mode of operation of the servo journal loading system 20, a desired load set point is selected via the user/operator interface 48. The servomotor 44 rotates a preload stud (or servo screw) 50 within the coiled spring assembly 40 in the appropriate direction via the gearbox 42. As the preload stud 50 turns, a bronze nut 100 and bushing 94 move axially along the stud to compress or decompress the spring 86.

Abstract: A plunger can for a roller assembly within a pulverizing mill has a body which contains a compression spring. A stub shaft transfers the force generated by the compression spring to the roller assembly. A bushing in cooperation with a locking guide in the fore end of the plunger can, along with the stub shaft in an aft end of the plunger can, contains the compression spring there between. The locking guide has an annular flange that fits within an annular channel within the plunger can body. A plurality of extensions spaced around an outside perimeter of the annular flange cooperates with a plurality of extensions around an inside perimeter of the plunger can body such that both sets of extensions clear each other when the locking guide is inserted into the plunger can body. When rotated, the sets of extensions are aligned with each, forming a mechanical lock.
