Abstract: The in situ process for increasing the capacity of a municipal solid waste landfill involves disturbing the municipal solid waste present within a landfill site, adjusting the moisture content of the waste material, adding a lime reagent, stockpiling the waste material and allowing the temperature to increase so that aerobic biostabilization is facilitated and allowing the temperature of the municipal solid waste material to decrease to a stable point. The process can be practiced with the use of currently available types of earth moving and refuse handling equipment and involves the addition of no other substances to the municipal solid waste except lime and water.
Abstract: A control system (44, 112) particularly adapted to be cooperatively associated with a mill (10) and in particular a roller mill (10) of the type that is operative to effectuate the grinding and/or pulverization of solid materials. When so employed, the subject control system (44, 112) enables the roller mill (10) to be operated over a wide range of varying levels of output of pulverized material, while yet ensuring that both the proper air/solids ratio and the desired degree of fineness of the pulverized material are being maintained. To achieve this result, the subject control system (44, 112) is operatively connected in circuit relation with the feed means (12) that supplies to the roller mill (10) the material that is to be pulverized therein, with the drive means (20, 22) through which the mill (10) is driven, with the classifier means (38) that effects a separation of the pulverized material according to fineness, and with the means which receives the output from the roller mill (10).
Abstract: Coal grinding apparatus for direct coal fired burner systems in which coal usage is regulated by a speed controlled roller grinding mill operated in conjunction with a speed controlled spinner separator to control the size and volume of the coal output to match the requirements of the burner, and means to transport and control the transport of the properly sized coal to the burner by either a negative or positive acting fan.
Abstract: Roller grinding mill apparatus comprising a stationary bull ring which cooperates with a plurality of centrifugally operated grinding rollers and means for setting a predetermined gap space between the grinding rollers and the grinding face of the bull ring so that the grinding rollers will be unrestricted so as to move in radial directions in response to centrifugal force, but will not normally be permitted to contact the grinding face of the bull ring.
