Abstract: A mill for grinding particles to submicron size. The mill has a rectangular prism-shaped housing for two internal barrels. Each internal barrel has a shaft and a plurality of overlapping circular discs attached to the shaft for grinding materials to submicron size. Each barrel also has blocked corners providing a cross-sectional shape of half of an octagonal prism disposed toward opposing ends of the housing. The housing also includes comprises curved acceleration ramps disposed between the barrels proximal to the overlapping circular discs on opposing sides of the housing. An inlet is provided for feeding material to be ground by the mill to an overlapped portion of the overlapping circular discs. An outlet is disposed at an end of the mill opposite the inlet for removing ground material from the mill. The overlapping circular discs are rotated in the mill at a shaft speed ranging from about 200 to about 1200 RPM.

  • Patent number: 8091811
Abstract: An apparatus for collecting, processing, and recycling kitchen scraps is provided. Kitchen scraps are thrown into a throw-in conduit provided on each floor of a building and transferred to a delivery conduit by a flushing device so as to reach a kitchen scraps collection device and be processed thereby. After the kitchen scraps are processed by the kitchen scraps collection device, a liquid removed from the kitchen scraps is further processed by a grease interception device so that oil is separated from the liquid. Thus, the apparatus collects, processes collectively, and performs water/oil separation on kitchen scraps.

  • Patent number: 5597125
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for disassociating material such as peat moss from a compressed bale. The apparatus includes a housing having a plurality of substantially vertically stacked agitator assemblies. The agitator assemblies are rotatable in response to an independent hydraulic drive motor attached to one end of the vertical shaft of each agitator spindle partially comprising the agitator assembly. The hydraulic motors are mounted to the exterior of the housing, but receive the aforementioned shafts. A lifting platform is provided within the housing to enable a bale of material to be placed thereon. The lifting platform is hydraulically manipulated such that it may be raised to enable the bale of material to come in contact with the rotating spindles of the agitator assemblies. An exit port is provided in the lowermost portion of the housing to enable the material to be ejected from the housing after it is disassociated from the bale.

  • Patent number: 4709865
Abstract: A condiment mill has a pair of separate compartments each for containing a different condiment, such as peppercorns and salt crystals. At the bottom of each compartment, a grinder is installed for grinding the condiment. A shaft is provided for rotatably driving each of the grinders, each such shaft extending upwardly through its associated compartment and having a spur gear fixedly attached to the upper end thereof. A pivotally supported gear drive mechanism is provided at the top of the compartments which engages the gear of one of the grinders when rotated in one direction and the gear of the other of the grinders when rotated in an opposite direction to enable the alternative grinding and dispensing of one or the other of the condiments. A cover is provided for the top of the compartments, this cover being spring-urged into its closed position over the compartments. This cover can be manually raised against the spring action and rotated to permit the filling of the compartment with condiment.

  • Patent number: 4537361
Abstract: Apparatus for breaking glass bottles and for crushing or deforming metallic cans and P.E.T. containers includes a glass bottle disintegrating means and separate can and P.E.T. container crushing means. A common entry chute to the apparatus allows for random introduction of containers to the apparatus but during the delivery travel of a container to the respective disintegrating or crushing means, an air flow sweeping across the container delivery course diverts lighter weight metallic cans and P.E.T. containers to the appropriate crushing means, whereas, heavier weight glass bottles are unaffected by the air flow and pass into the glass bottle disintegrating means.
