  • Patent number: 10828048
Abstract: A cleaning module for cleaning bone stock used in surgical procedures. The cleaning module includes a shell. The shell defines a void space to receive the bone stock. A cutter is rotating mounted in the void space. A shaving tube, also able to rotate, is coaxially disposed about the cutter. The cutter and shaving tube have complementary edges. A drive assembly rotates the cutter and shaving tube at different speeds, at different times or in different directions relative to the cutter. As a result of the rotation of the cutter and shaving tube soft tissue adhering to the bone stock is cut away from the bone stock by the relative rotating of the cutting edges of the cutter and shaving tube.

  • Patent number: 7461970
Abstract: A mixing apparatus comprises first and second opposing mixing members rotatable relative to one another about an axis and which have facing surfaces which extend away from the axis and which define a mixing chamber therebetween. Means are provided for rotating at least one of the mixing members to provide relative rotation between the first and second mixing members in a first rotational direction. An array of mixing formations on at least one of said surfaces interact to mix material within the mixing chamber and are configured to propel material within the mixing chamber towards the axis. The number of mixing formations on at least one of the surfaces increases with radial distance from the axis.

Abstract: A bone fusion system and method is disclosed. The system includes a bone mill having at least one docking station that is located at a position other than where a user inserts bone to be moresellated into the bone mill. This allows, for example, a surgeon to deposit moresellated bone onto a desired location on a patient's spine immediately after the bone is moresellated. The bone mill can include two or more docking stations having different sizes so that a surgeon can couple differently sized syringes to the bone mill. This allows, for example, moresellated bone to be deposited at two or more locations immediately after the bone is moresellated. A hand held retractor having a serrated tip is included so that a surgeon can simultaneously retract a patient's muscle bundles while decorticating a recipient bed.

  • Patent number: 7370819
Abstract: In a biological sample grinding device and method, a bearing having a plurality of rolling elements disposed between a pair of rings is disposed in a container in which a fluid having at least one biological sample particle therein is introduced. With the bearing immersed in the fluid having the biological sample particle therein, one ring of the bearing is rotated relative to the other ring thereof, whereupon the rolling elements roll between the pair of rings and, in response thereto, the biological sample particle is drawn by the fluid between the pair of rings where it is subject to being crushed or ground between at least one of the rolling elements and at least one of the rings. A baffle can be disposed in the container for inhibiting the rotation of the fluid and, hence, the introduction of air into the fluid.
