Abstract: Potassium bicarbonate is coated with an anionic or amphoteric surfactant, which is preferably a metal soap, such as calcium stearate, to inhibit caking on storage, and premature loss of carbon dioxide when mixed with acidulant, e.g. in a baking powder or self-raising flour blend. Loss of carbon dioxide in the blend may be further inhibited by coating the acidulant with surfactant. Combination of surfactant coating with an inorganic anti-caking agent such as silicon dioxide gives synergistic protection against caking of the potassium bicarbonate. Preferably the bicarbonate has D50 of between 35 and 200? and is free from particles greater than 400?.

Abstract: A document shredder with a motor, a cutting unit, and a motor control, wherein the motor control may start, stop and reverse the motor. The motor control may limit the maximally allowed load of the motor to a predetermined load limit value. In case the motor reaches the maximally allowed load limit value, the load limit value may be increased for a predetermined time, either manually or automatically. In this way a short overload does not lead to a paper jam and the shredder does not have to be reversed, which may cause a paper mess in the workplace. The motor may be a direct current motor and/or a series motor, so that the load limit value may be defined by a maximally allowable motor current.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a method for producing a resin compact containing an epoxy resin, a curing agent, a curing accelerator and an inorganic filler. The method includes a kneading and crushing process for preparing a first powder material obtained by mixing, heat-melting, kneading and crushing a first component containing the epoxy resin and the curing agent and the inorganic filler, but not containing the curing accelerator; a pulverizing process for preparing a second powder material obtained by pulverizing a second component containing the curing accelerator; a mixing process for preparing a resin composition by dispersing and mixing the first powder material and the second powder material; and a molding process for obtaining the resin compact by compression-molding the resin composition. This makes it possible to obtain a resin compact (particularly, a resin compact for encapsulation) having superior long term storage stability at room temperature, good curable property and fluidity.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus for trimming plants, in particular, buds and flowers, to remove unwanted plant material. A typical application would be to process a plant to leave only trimmed buds and flowers for use in potpourri, fragrant sashes, or as a prelude to further processing of essential oils. The invention enables faster and safer production of plant material than prior plant processing machines. The apparatus employs an original combination of a slotted metal drum and a lawn mower type cutting reel that are rotated in the same direction, but at different speeds, to create a cutting interface that shears the unwanted plant material off and then collect this debris though a novel vacuum manifold into a waste collection device. The cutting interface between the slotted drum and the cutting reel is adjustable to keep the distance between the two between 0.002 and 0.006 inches for a very sharp and clean cut.

The invention further relates to a dispersion which can be obtained by the process of the invention.

Abstract: A method of making crystals from remains, including the steps of: recovering remains; pulverizing the remains to form bone powder having a particle size of 0.05 mm or less; mixing the bone powder with a natural mineral to form spherical seeds; putting the spherical seeds into a calcinator and then leaving them at a temperature of 900˜950° C. for 10˜20 minutes to form solid crystals; and cooling and then surface-treating the solid crystals. The method is advantageous in that the time and cost for forming crystals can be reduced by mixing bone powder with a natural mineral and then calcinating the mixture at lower temperature to form solid crystals.

Abstract: In order to detect a lack of coffee beans in a grinder unit of a coffee maker, a method is suggested in which the level and/or the spectrum of an oscillation generated by the grinder unit during its operation is measured. The level of the oscillation and/or the nature of the spectrum are used to decide whether or not coffee beans are present in the grinder unit. Preferably, the level of oscillation of the housing of the coffee grinder unit is monitored. If the level changes by more than a preset value and/or falls below a reference value, it is decided that coffee beans are lacking.

Abstract: A pulverizer 10 includes a journal assembly 19 with a grinding roller 18 that grinds solids in a grinding table 14. The oscillations of the journal assembly 19 are monitored by an angular displacement transducer (ADT) 32 that creates a composite signal. A controller 83 receives the composite signal from the ADT and compares it with known information of the pulverizer 10. It then identifies abnormal situations such as damage to a grinding roll 14, the grinding table 14, the spring assembly 20 and other parts of the pulverizer 10 before they cause major damage.

The shredder includes a controller configured to regulate operation of the shredder's motor in response to the detected vibrations. The controller may regulate operation of the shredder so as to keep the detected vibrations below a predetermined vibration level during operation of the shredder. The controller may modify operation of the shredder (e.g., turn the shredder off, conduct an autocorrect sequence, increase or decrease the shredder's speed, display an error message) in response to the detected vibrations having a predetermined characteristic (e.g., frequency and/or amplitude within a predetermined range, a characteristic that indicates a material/paper jam or misfeed).
