Self-adjusting (e.g., Universal Mounting) Patents (Class 241/288)
  • Patent number: 5713527
Abstract: The invention concerns an impact crusher 1 with a rotor 3 equipped with blow bars 4 and pivotably-mounted impact aprons 5, 6 arranged in the crusher housing 2, the impact aprons are positionable vis a vis the rotor by means of hydraulic cylinder-piston units 7 via piston rods 8. In a prior art impact crusher, additional mechanical devices are provided locally alongside the hydraulic retaining and positioning device 7, 9 to prevent the impact aprons 5 dropping into the tip circle circumscribed by the blow bars 4 of the rotors 3 in case of failure of the hydraulics. The invention provides additional devices connected to the corresponding hydraulically-actuatable retaining and positioning device 7, 9, using the latter's piston reds 8 to form homogeneous units 12.

  • Patent number: 5505393
Abstract: A crushing device for crushing material such as scrap metal and refuse has a housing with a material feeding section and a material removal section for removing crushed material. A shaft with a rotor connected thereto is rotatably supported in the housing. The rotor comprises crushing members. The housing has abutments for cooperating with the crushing members. The feeding section is positioned below a horizontal plane in which the shaft is positioned. An outlet is positioned, when viewed in the rotational direction of the rotor, directly adjacent to and lower than the material feeding section for at least partially replacing the removal section.

  • Patent number: 5492279
Abstract: A pulverizer for crushing coal for use in a combustion process includes a bowl shaped body, a roller dimensioned and configured for contact with at least a portion of the bowl shaped body, apparatus for causing relative movement between the bowl shaped body and the roller; and apparatus for biasing the roller against the bowl shaped body, the apparatus for biasing including a spring assemblyat includes a first spring and a second spring. The apparatus means for biasing including apparatus allowing initial compression of the first spring before the second spring is compressed. In some forms of the invention the first spring and the second spring are coil springs and the first and second springs are compressed simultaneously after initial compression of the first spring. In other forms of the invention the first and second springs are disposed in coaxial relationship with the second spring overlapping an axial part of the first spring.

  • Patent number: 5482218
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for crushing material such as rock and includes a support structure having an inlet and an outlet. A powered rotor shaft rotates with respect to the support structure about a shaft axis, and a rotor mounted eccentrically on shaft describes orbital motion about the shaft axis. The rotor has a rotor wall which moves cyclically and laterally with respect to the axis during the orbital motion. At least one stator is mounted in the support structure to provide a stator wall spaced oppositely from the rotor wall to define therewith opposing walls of a crushing chamber located between the inlet and outlet. Feed direction of material passing between the inlet and outlet is generally perpendicular to the shaft axis, and when the rotor describes the orbital motion, spacing between opposing walls of the chamber varies cyclically. The stator is mounted yieldably so as to move away from the rotor when a pre-determined threshold force is exceeded so as to reduce possible damage.

  • Patent number: 5398877
Abstract: Apparatus for reducing particulate materials such as paper-making pulp, including a housing defining a working chamber having an inlet and an outlet for flow of particulate material therethrough. There is a rotary shaft supported in said housing, and rotors and stators are mounted on the shaft within said working chamber. Radially extending annular rigid refining surfaces are mounted on the outer portions of the rotor plates and stator plates and the rotor plates and stator plates provide complementary rigid refining surfaces mounted in the chamber and cooperating in confronting relation with the refining surfaces so that in the relative rotation of the refining surfaces particulate material flowing through the working chamber and between the refining surfaces is refined. The refining surfaces are capable of having a wobbling motion with respect to the portions of the plates mounted on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5255869
Abstract: An improved crusher with first, second and third curtain assemblies. Each curtain assembly mounts a series of crusher plates and the plates of its curtain assemblies are distributed circumferentially above a rotor in the crusher. The three curtain assemblies pivot or swing about a common pivot axis. Gravity biases the third curtain assembly whereby the breaker plates are urged toward the rotor of the crusher. Springs and curtain rods are part of structure additionally biasing the third curtain assembly.
