Abstract: A method for recycling adhesive-containing film waste. The film waste is initially coarsely chopped in a chopping device. A liquid or powdered additive that reduces the strength of the adhesive on the film waste is added to material in the chopping device or sprayed on components of the chopping device. The waste material exits the chopping device through a perforated sheet as clumps of material, which are then fed into an agglomerator, where they are agglomerated or compacted into strands of material. The temperature in the agglomerator is between 100 and 200 degrees C., i.e., below the melting point of the material of the film. The strands exiting the agglomerator are then cut to granule size.

Abstract: A preparation for the transdermal delivery of a biologically active substance into the body of a patient comprises particles of a formulation comprising the active substance. The particles are irregular in size and shape and may be produced by a low cost manufacturing method such as grinding from a thin film. The particles are angular, i.e. they have sharp edges and corners that allow them to penetrate the outer layer of the skin when subjected to pressure from a roller or an array of blunt-tipped microstructures. Sucrose may be used as an excipient with the active substance to form suitably rigid and angular particles.

Abstract: The invention provides low-cost, non-thermal methods to transform and beneficiate bulk materials, including low rank coals such as peat, lignite, brown coal, subbituminous coal, other carbonaceous solids or derived feedstock. High pressure compaction and comminution processes are linked to transform the solid materials by eliminating interstitial, capillary, pores, or other voids that are present in the materials and that may contain liquid, air or gases that are detrimental to the quality and performance of the bulk materials, thereby beneficiating the bulk products to provide premium feedstock for industrial or commercial uses, such as electric power generation, gasification, liquefaction, and carbon activation. The handling characteristics, dust mitigation aspects and combustion emissions of the products may also be improved.

Abstract: Modified natural graphite particles intended for forming a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery are characterized by having a circularity of at least 0.93 and at most 1.0 and a surface roughness of at most 1.5% with respect to the length of the particles. These modified natural graphite particles are obtained by a manufacturing method including a step of applying an impact force to natural graphite particles for pulverization and spheroidization to obtain intermediate particles having a circularity of at least 0.93 and at most 1.0, and a step of carrying out surface smoothing of the resulting intermediate particles by mechanical grinding treatment to obtain the modified natural graphite particles.

Abstract: The invention relates to a graphene-modified lithium iron phosphate positive electrode active material and a method for preparing the same, as well as a lithium-ion secondary cell based on this positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material is prepared by a method in which graphene or graphene oxide and lithium iron phosphate are dispersed in an aqueous solution, agitated and ultrasonicated to mix homogeneously and for a mixture, dried to obtain a lithium iron phosphate material compounded with graphene or graphene oxide, and annealed at high temperature to obtain finally a graphene-modified lithium iron phosphate positive electrode active material. When compared with conventional modified lithium cells coated with carbon or doped with conductive polymers, the lithium-ion secondary cell based on this positive electrode active material features high cell capacity, good cycling performance of charge and discharge, long life and high cycle stability, and has great utility value.
