  • Patent number: 11931707
Abstract: A rotor-stator system for agglomerate mixing apparatus utilizes a unique rotor-stator mixer assembly which combines a high efficiency rotor with unique stator element designs to address the limitations of prior rotor-stator mixer assemblies, including the dispersal of large agglomerate and problem of heat build-up. The stator elements have a variety of slot openings in different sizes and shapes whose inside walls are slanted in an acute attack angle that will generate circumferential, rather than exit flow. These slot configurations enable rapid large agglomerate reduction into smaller and smaller agglomerates and ultimately down to particle size without the need to change stator configuration, which is already built into the device.

Preferably, a stator body is secured outside of the rotor body and each of the rotor and stator bodies include respective apertures for allowing fluid flow therethrough. The flow divider plate structure prevents the usual swirling action of liquid and solid particulates within the rotor body such that the mixture has a more desirable flow pattern and so that particulates do not conglomerate to form a mass that clogs the rotor body. Further aspects and embodiments of the invention provide advantageous seal structure and structure for increasing productivity.

  • Patent number: 6302342
Abstract: A pulper has a circular rotor that carries a set of peripheral blades that rotate within a stator having a set of peripheral lobes that interact with the peripheral blades as they rotate to reduce and defiber materials, e.g., to produce pulp slurries for paper-making. A cone assembly is mounted over the center of the rotor on a base plate. The cone assembly includes a blade that extends across the common axis of rotation of the base plate and the rotor and projects into a tank beyond the height of the peripheral blades and the stator lobes. A support structure, preferably in the form of a “cone”, supports the blade. The cone preferably has a pyramidal structure and in one form extends sufficiently far up the blade so that, typically, no more than 2 to 3 inches of the blade project above the outer surface of the cone. The blade has a triangular structure terminating in a central apex for use in reducing slabs of large sheet materials such as reel broke.

  • Patent number: 6234415
Abstract: A pulper includes a rotor (5) mounted in a tube adjacent to a screening plate (4) having holes (4a). The rotor (5) includes helical vanes (5a) whose diameter decreases towards the outer end of the rotor. The rotor vanes (5a) carry in the vicinity of the screening plate a radially and outwardly projecting shoulder-like element (10) having a leading surface (10b) which is generally flat and inclined relative to the screening plate (4) at an angle of 55°-85°, and a trailing part having a reversed wing-profile shape as seen in the direction of rotation. The element forms a pressure-generating and subpressure-generating device which exerts an alternating effect on the pulp as the rotor rotates, therewith counteracting clogging of the holes (4a) in the screening plate. The shoulder-like element (10) may comprise a completely or partially separate element in relation to the rotor, and may be detachable therefrom and replaceable, and also optionally reversible.

  • Patent number: 6186426
Abstract: The comminution and distribution device according to the invention can be used to crush comminutable, pumpable materials, in particular mechanically dewatered slurry, into roughly the same sized pieces, and feed them in controllable quantities to a downstream device, e.g., a dryer. To this end, the slurry is conveyed through a gap formed by two oppositely rotatable parts. In preferred embodiments of the device according to the invention, both parts exhibit recesses on the side facing the gap, which are designed in such a way that, when the two parts are turned opposite each other in the preset rotational direction, slurry strands with periodically alternating areas with smaller and larger cross sections are formed, transported outside and split at locations exhibiting smaller cross sections.
