Sand Mullers Patents (Class 241/601)
  • Patent number: 8128012
Abstract: An apparatus for the reclamation of molding sand by which the quality of the reclaimed molding sand is enhanced. The apparatus for reclamation of molding sand includes a part for feeding the molding sand 1, which part has a sand falling port at its bottom, a rotary drum 2 disposed below the part for feeding the molding sand 1 and being rotatable horizontally, a motor driving means 4 for rotating the rotary drum 2 by an electric motor 3, a roller 5 disposed in the rotary drum 2 and spaced apart therefrom, and a cylinder 6 connected to the roller 5 that presses the roller 5 toward the rotary drum 2.

  • Patent number: 5104049
Abstract: A thin wall inner is positioned within the circular bowl of a sand muller to overlay the interior mulling surface upon which foundry sand is placed and is mulled by a plow blade that rotates within the bowl over its mulling surface. The bowl surface is annular and ring-like in shape. The liner is formed of a number of similar segments which are arranged together in edge to edge relationship to form an annular, ring-like cover over the bowl surface. The liner segments are secured to the bowl by bolts which extend through aligned holes in the segments and in the bowl. Most of the outer surface of the liner is spaced a short distance from the bowl surface by means of thin pads formed on the outer surface of the liner, around the area of the bolt holes. The pads contact the bowl surface, to provide a space between the remainder of the liner and the bowl surface. This space is filled with a grout-like material for bonding the liner to the bowl and for shock absorbing and load distribution.

  • Patent number: 4361404
Abstract: Mixing equipment includes a mixing compartment and at least one mulling assembly for dispersing therein material, including granular material, such as foundry sand. An agitator is provided for improving the mulling and aerating of the dispersed material within the compartment. The agitator includes a rotor rotated about an upright axis disposed within a cavity opening into the mixing compartment. The rotor includes a hub disposed within the cavity and having a plurality of fingers extending outwardly therefrom. Upon rotation of the rotor, the fingers move forcibly out of the cavity and into the mixing compartment to impact the material moving therepast, for mixing and aerating the material. An overflow discharge opening in a side wall of the compartment permits the prepared material to be discharged continuously from the mixing compartment. The supply of material to the compartment and the discharge of material are under the control of door, material consistency sensing, and timing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4126922
Abstract: A sand muller reconditioning method and structure in which the bottom of the sand muller'vessel is reestablished into a generally planar or flat attitude after prolonged use of the muller has resulted in a wide groove-like circular wear path in that bottom beneath the sand muller's plow. The method and structure includes defining an inner circumferential seat, and an outer circumferential seat, in the vessel's bottom, those seats being disposed inside of and outside of, respectively, the circular wear path previously formed in the bottom. A wear plate comprised of multiple arcuate sections is then sized to fit in the inner and outer seats for eliminating the circular wear path, the wear plate being fixed to the vessel's bottom by bolts cooperating with tapped bores in the bottom.
