  • Patent number: 4522377
Abstract: Molten slag is poured onto the upper surface of an elongated conveyor member. The surface of the conveyor member is cooled while maintaining it free from contact with liquids. Preferably, this is accomplished by way of a water cooled pan connected to the lower surface of the member. Reciprocal lengthwise motion is imparted to the conveyor member to transport the slag over the cooled surface until the slag is solidified and broken into pieces.

  • Patent number: 4351486
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a process for grinding wood on a grinding stone and the grinding stone which grinds the wood. The grinding stone has a central core, which may be comprised of concrete or steel. The core has a free inner space. A water supply line extends along the free inner space. Outlets from the water supply line are directed toward the periphery of the core at the grinding zone of the grinding layer. Around the core is a grinding layer for grinding the wood. The grinding layer is permeable so that water can be transmitted through it. The permeability may arise from the porosity of the material of the grinding layer itself or through the provision of bores or gaps in the grinding layer. The grinding layer may be comprised of a group of segments covering the core and the gaps may be defined between segments. The core may have bores for delivering the water to the inside of the grinding layer. The water may be heated and/or pressurized for improving grinding.

  • Patent number: 4240590
Abstract: A blower-beater mill for drying and milling material with a beater body and impeller arranged on the mill shaft. The beater arms of the beater body are fastened between hub rings on the shaft and water cooling is applied along the longitudinal axis of the mill shaft. The shaft is enclosed by a casing which extends to the impeller and is spaced from the shaft. In the region of the beater body, the casing has openings for the beater arms. The mill shaft also has hub rings between the beater body and the impeller. The casing is made up of U-shaped rings which overlap one or several hub rings. The rings have vertical legs inserted into passages between the hub rings. A passage behind the beater portion may be enlarged for fitting insert pins in the direction of the hub pins and lock washers may be placed between the front faces of the insert pins and the side faces of the hub rings. A gap may be located between the deflection disk of the impeller and the last U-shaped ring.

  • Patent number: 4174074
Abstract: A heavy duty agitator ball mill for continuous grinding and dispersion of material suspended in a liquid has an upright rotor made of aligned rotor ring elements, mounted for rotation within a stator which preferably is also made up of aligned stator ring elements. Rotor and stator form a grinding chamber between them which holds a charge of grinding balls. Agitator members extend into the grinding chamber both from the rotor and from the stator. Both rotor and stator have cooling channels for flow of coolant, bounded in part by ribs formed on rotor and stator and hence promoting heat conduction. Working surfaces are of hard wearing materials as is made possible by the construction. The ring elements are readily replaceable, as are hard inserts of the agitator members.

  • Patent number: 4161295
Abstract: A blower beater mill in which a rotor has a beater portion provided with beater arms in the form of two interconnected parts. Beater arm bases are fastened in hub rings of the shaft of the rotor, and fastening elements of two beater arm portions are located above shaft crests of the hub rings. Cover elements are located axially with the rotor in a free space between the beater arm bases, and these cover elements are located on a diameter between the shaft crests of the hub rings and the fastening elements of the beater arm portions. Openings pass through the beater arm bases between the cover elements and the shaft crests of the hub rings in the axial direction of the rotor. An opening in one beater arm base is aligned with the opening in the corresponding beater arm base of the following beater arm rows. The cover elements have an outside jacket which surrounds the shaft crests of the hub rings at a distance. The jacket has cutouts for accommodating the beater arm bases.
