Abstract: A method of winding an optical fiber includes winding the optical fiber using a bobbin that includes: a body portion having two end portions; and a pair of flanges, respectively disposed at the end portions in an axial direction of the body portion. An inner surface of each of the flanges is inclined toward an outer side in the axial direction and toward a radial outer side. The method further includes guiding the optical fiber to the bobbin using a final pulley. The bobbin and the final pulley reciprocate relative to each other in the axial direction at a traverse speed V (mm/sec) such that 0.0050?? (rad)?0.1000, where ? is a delay angle, ?=arctan (V/L), and L (mm) is a distance from a winding position of the optical fiber at the bobbin to the final pulley in a radial direction.

  • Patent number: 6435450
Abstract: A multi-compartment paralleling reel that allows different sets of wire to be drawn from the paralleling reel independently of each other. The multi-compartment paralleling reel includes a plurality of independent compartments. Each independent compartment can store a set of wire. A shaft mounted through the plurality of independent compartments allows each independent compartment to rotate relative to the shaft and allows each independent compartment to rotate independently of the other independent compartments. Thus, each set of wire can be drawn from each independent compartment of the multi-compartment paralleling reel independently of the other independent compartments. This allows the different sets of wire, which may include wires that have different diameter sizes, to be drawn from the independent compartments at different rates of speed or the same speed, depending upon what is desired.

  • Patent number: 6311912
Abstract: A shuttle bobbin (1) for sewing machines having a first (11) and second (12) disc-shaped end walls concentrically and integrally formed at both ends of a hub. The diameter of the first end wall (11) being larger than that of the second end wall (12). A partition wall (13) is concentrically and integrally formed at an intermediate portion of the hub, thus partitioning the hub into firsts and second winding parts (15a, 15b). The partition wall (13) is smoothly toothed (13a, 13b) at its outside edges, thus having rounded teeth and rounded roots at the outside edges. The diameter of the addendum circle of the toothed partition wall (13) is equal to the diameter of the first end wall (11) while the diameter of the deddendum circle is equal to the second end wall (12). The second winding part (15b), defined by the second end wall and the partition wall, is positioned just under the lowest position of a sewing needle when the bobbin is installed in a sewing machine.
