Abstract: A spinning reel bail tripping device returns a bail arm from the line-releasing posture to the line-guiding posture smoothly as a rotor rotates in its line-guiding direction. The bail tripping device includes a shifting member, a switching member, and a roller. The shifting member can shift, when the bail arm pivots, between a first position corresponding to the line-guiding posture and a second position corresponding to the line-releasing posture. The shifting member has a portion that protrudes toward a front portion of the reel unit when the shifting member is in the second position. The switching member is arranged at the front of a reel unit. When the rotor rotates in line-guiding direction, the switching portion contacts the protruding portion, shifting the shifting member toward the first position. The roller is provided on the switching member at a portion contacting the shifting member, and rolls against the switching member.

Abstract: Spinning-reel bail-tripping mechanism is a device for returning bail arm from line-releasing posture to line-retrieving posture as rotor rotates in line-retrieving direction. Bail-tripping mechanism includes shifting member that shifts front-to-rear as bail arm pivots; toggle-spring mechanism that urges and toggles bail arm to between the two postures; switching portion, and restraining mechanism. Switching portion comes into contact with the rear end of shifting member and shifts shifting member toward a first position. Restraining means restrains bail arm from returning into line-retrieving posture when bail arm is in line-releasing posture. Restraining means also releases restraint before the rear end of shifting member reaches the peak edge of first inclined face of switching portion as rotor rotates in line-retrieving direction while bail arm is in line-releasing posture.

Abstract: A spinning reel rotor is rotatively mounted onto a reel unit of a spinning reel and winds fishing line onto a spool. The rotor is provided with a cylindrical portion, a bail arm, and first and second rotor arms having first and second cover members. The cylindrical portion is rotatively mounted to an end of the reel unit. The first and second rotor arms extend in the direction away from the reel unit from diametrically opposing positions of the reel unit side end portion of the cylindrical portion. The second cover member covers the outside of the second rotor arm and has a plurality of through holes formed in its outside surface. In a spinning reel rotor to which cover members are mounted, it is possible to inexpensively prevent the rotor from being scratched such that its appearance can be maintained without losing the classic look of the reel.

The first and a second rotor arms extend in a direction away from the reel unit while being curved outward in radial direction from a position in opposition, with respect to the radial direction, to an end of the cylindrical portion on the reel unit side. An aperture is formed in the second rotor arm. The second cover member covers the outside of the second rotor arm and has through holes for adjusting its mass. The through holes expose a portion of the aperture. In this rotor that has a rotor arm provided with an aperture, variations in the rotational balance of cover members due to different degrees of exposure of the aperture are suppressed.
