  • Patent number: 7866587
Abstract: A drag adjusting mechanism for a dual-bearing reel comprises a drag adjusting lever, a cam mechanism, and a rotation restricting portion. The drag adjusting lever rotates about a spool shaft between a drag release position and a maximum drag position. The cam mechanism has a cam surface that converts rotation of the drag adjusting lever into axial movement of the drag mechanism along the axial direction of the spool shaft. The rotation restricting member is provided on the cam surface and regulates rotation of the drag adjusting lever to the drag release position. The rotation restricting member has a protrusion with an apex, a first slanted surface extending from the apex toward a first position corresponding to a drag release position, and a second slanted surface extending from the apex in the direction opposite to the drag release position. • Publication number: 20100308148
Abstract: A spinning-reel drag switch device includes a return mechanism. The return mechanism includes a first arm, a second gear member, and a press member. The first arm is configured to pivot in conjunction with the operation member. The second gear member rotates about an axis that is positioned to interpose the rotation shaft between the axis and a spool such that a distance between the axis and a fishing-rod attachment is greater than a distance between a handle rotation shaft and the fishing-rod attachment. The second gear member is configured to receive rotation force from the first gear member. The press member is mounted to the second gear member to press the first arm. The return mechanism presses the first arm in conjunction with rotation of the handle in a fishing line winding direction to return the operation member to a first position from a second position.

  • Publication number: 20040113005
Abstract: A screw operation structure includes a screw-in portion that is capable of being mounted to a rear portion of a reel unit, a screw member, and an operation member. The screw-in portion includes an outer threaded portion, and a tubular portion that is integrally formed with the outer threaded portion. The tubular portion is formed such that the diameter thereof is larger than the inner diameter of the inner threaded portion of the screw member. In this configuration, the screw member is prevented from falling off of the screw-in portion by the tubular portion of the screw-in portion, which has a diameter that is larger than the inner diameter of the inner threaded portion of the screw member. In this manner, it is easy to mount an the operation member and the screw member in the reel unit.

  • Patent number: 5904309
Abstract: In a spinning reel for fishing, a brake member is attached to a rotor, which, when a bail support member is operated or reversed from its fishing line retrieving state to its fishing line casting state, is pressed against a spool to thereby brake the rotation of the rotor. The bail support member can be returned from the fishing line casting state to the fishing line retrieving state through a reversing mechanism if the rotor is rotated with a handle in the fishing line retrieving direction. The spinning reel for fishing can prevent the inadvertent operation of a bail in a fishing line casting operation and thereby improve the fishing operation of the spinning reel.

  • Patent number: 5697566
Abstract: A multi-function-trigger actuated reel for allowing both actuation of the free spool mechanism and adjustment of the drag brake mechanism of a close face spinning reel with a single actuating trigger. The inventive device includes a main body having a reel mechanism mounted thereto. The reel mechanism includes a spool upon which fishing line can be wound, a drag plunger effecting frictional drag on the spool, and a main shaft which can be forwardly biased to cause free-spooling of the reel mechanism. A trigger assembly is mounted relative to the main body and includes a trigger arm which can be pivoted in a plurality of directions to selectively effect movement of the drag plunger and the main shaft through the single trigger arm.
