Abstract: A fishing reel includes a spool supported between side plates of a reel body through a spool shaft; and a clutch mechanism that switches between a power transmission state that winds a fishing line and a power cutoff state capable of unwinding a fishing line by moving a pinion gear of a winding drive mechanism in an axial direction of the spool shaft by operating the switching operation member provided on the reel body to engage and disengage clutch engagement portions of the spool shaft and the pinion gear, wherein, provided between the bearing that supports the spool shaft and the clutch engagement portion on the spool shaft side are: a first elastic portion applying an elastic force to an end of the pinion gear in the power transmission state; and a second elastic portion constantly energizing a side of the bearing in the axial direction of the spool shaft.
Abstract: A fishing reel includes a drag gear coupled to a spool gear, and a drag engagement lever configured to be actuated between a first position to engage the drag gear with the spool gear and a second position to disengage the drag gear from the spool gear. The fishing reel further includes a first plurality of friction washers located on a first side of the drag gear and a second plurality of friction washers located on a second side of the drag gear and that match the first plurality of friction washers. The fishing reel further includes a first pressure pad and a second pressure pad, a star gear lever configured to rotate about a second axis, and a nut such that rotation of the star gear lever actuates the nut at least one of towards or away from the first pressure pad to increase or decrease drag.

The rotation restricting member is provided on the cam surface and regulates rotation of the drag adjusting lever to the drag release position. The rotation restricting member has a protrusion with an apex, a first slanted surface extending from the apex toward a first position corresponding to a drag release position, and a second slanted surface extending from the apex in the direction opposite to the drag release position. The angle of the first slanted surface is smaller than the angle of the second slanted surface.

The restriction member is fixed to the reel unit in order to restrict the forward movement of the bearing. The rotation check mechanism has a roller-type one-way clutch provided ahead of the restriction member, and prevents the rotor from reversing in the line winding-out direction.

The spool has a fishing line drum portion (4a) and flange portions (4b) and (4c) formed on both sides of the fishing line drum portion. A drag mechanism (6) has a brake portion (26) having a brake disc (55) disposed coaxially with the spool and cooperating with the spool, and a frictional disc (56) disposed to face and to be pressingly contactable with the brake disc and being non-rotatable in a fishing line feed direction, and a spool shaft moving mechanism (25) for braking the spool by the relative movement between the brake disc and the frictional disc in the press contact direction. The brake diameter is 90% or more of a fishing line windable diameter of the spool.
Abstract: A fishing reel has an anti-reverse mechanism for preventing a reel spool or other rotary member from being undesirably rotated by pulling force acting in the direction in which the fishing line is unwound. The anti-reverse mechanism is provided with a one-way bearing connected to the reel body through a ratchet wheel and pawl. It is possible to effect reliable anti-reverse operation and minimize the slipping angle and impact force when anti-reverse operation is effected. According to one embodiment, a rotary handle shaft member extends between a reel support plate and an outer plate parallel to a spool shaft, with an inner end of the handle shaft rotatably supported by the support plate through a bearing while an outer, other end portion of the shaft is rotatably supported through a bearing unit slidably but prevented from rotating, i.e., being fixed within a cylindrical portion provided on the outer plate.

A brake cylinder storing frictional brake plates therein is accommodated within a radial space between a spool and a spool support shaft which are relatively rotatable. An engagement portion and a cooperative engagement portion are provided on the brake cylinder and the spool, respectively, so as to selectively engage with each other by the translational motion of the spool relative to the spool support shaft. The disengagement between the engagement portions of the spool and brake cylinder by the action of an operation member establishes a spool free condition in which the frictional brake plates apply no adverse influence onto the free rotation of the spool.
