Patent number: 11632943Abstract: The present invention is a splitting line guide that includes two guide mechanisms that are connected to one another via a driver unit that is connected to a worm shaft. In a first casting position, when a free spool clutch is depressed, the driver unit rotates forwardly. The two guide mechanisms are in turn disconnected from the driver unit. This decreases resistance on the line during casting to increase casting distance and reduce the risk of backlash during casting. When a user is ready to return the line guide to its position where the line guide mechanisms are near each other to help with spooling line, he or she may simply begin cranking a reel. This causes the driver unit to rotate rearwardly. The driver unit may then re-engage the guide mechanisms such that they are arranged closely to one another so that line can evenly be distributed on the spool without any large build up of line in any one spot on the spool.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2021Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: Pure Fishing, Inc.Inventor: Patrik Svensson

Patent number: 9247722Abstract: The fishing reel includes a spool 5A rotatably supported between side plates of a reel body 2, and a level wind device 50 with a fishing line guide body 60 configured to thread a fishing line unreeled from the spool 5A and reciprocate between the right and left side plates. The fishing line guide body 60 is supported in front of the spool and switchable between fishing line winding/unwinding states, and includes a fishing line guide section 67 for guiding the fishing line to the spool in the winding state and having a narrow width in the right and left direction, an opening 68 to reduce resistance against unwinding line in the unwinding state and having a wide width in the right and left direction, and a regulator 69 configured to prevent the fishing line from slipping out of the fishing line guide section in the winding state.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2014Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: GLOBERIDE, INC.Inventors: Kyoichi Kaneko, Wataru Tsutsumi, Yuuichi Umezawa

Patent number: 7568650Abstract: The present invention provides an alternate design for a level-wind mechanism that eliminates the requirement for the line to be threaded through an enclosed, or multiple device line guide. The present invention guides the line via an open slot created between one or more line guides that pivots about its supporting structure. The line guide(s) oscillate back and forth in concert across the axial length of the spool in order to evenly distribute the line that is being wound upon the spool. Further, the line guide is capable of being pivoted from a first position of line retrieve to a second position of line dissemination when it is desired to pay out the line from the spool.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2006Date of Patent: August 4, 2009Assignee: Kore Gear, Inc.Inventor: Craig H. Publication number: 20080128539Abstract: A line guide for a reel unit for winding a fishing line onto or unwinding it from a spool is provided on the housing of the reel unit and comprises a carriage guide and a carriage element with at least one line eye. The carriage guide can be functionally linked with the gear mechanism of the spool. Advantageously, the carriage guide is configured as a spindle-shaped pilot shaft and the carriage element is provided with an internally threaded guide channel for guiding on the spindle-shaped pilot shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2005Publication date: June 5, 2008Inventor: Helmut Klein

Patent number: 7270289Abstract: A writing instrument holder comprises a substantially funnel-shaped body configured to hold concurrently one writing instrument internally and another writing instrument externally. The writing instruments are frictionally held in a substantially conical fashion. A retractable fastener is coupled to one end of the substantially funnel-shaped body.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2004Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Assignee: Kish, LLCInventor: Louis A. Kish

Patent number: 6150745Abstract: A fishing reel is provided having a frame and an operating mechanism on the frame. The operating mechanism includes a line carrying spool that is mounted on the frame for rotation around a first axis. The frame has first and second frame parts spaced axially relative to the first axis. The line carrying spool has a shaft with a first end that is supported for rotation on the first frame part. The operating mechanism includes a first magnet on the first frame part and a second magnet on the spool. The first and second magnets are arranged to one of a) attract and b) repel each other to thereby exert a force on the spool and urges the spool axially relative to the frame as the spool is rotated.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Brunswick CorporationInventor: Robert Leon Carpenter

Patent number: 6053444Abstract: A double bearing type reel includes: a reel main body having a pair of side plates; a spool rotatably supported between the side plates; and a fishline guide device reciprocatingly provided between the side plates extending in front of the spool, said fishline guide device winding a fishline parallel around the spool. The fishline guide device includes a fishline guide portion having a lower portion which guides the fishline in a fishline take-up state and an upper portion which guides the fishline in a fishline play-out state. The upper portion is larger in width than the lower portion. The fishline guide device may have a pair of arm portions movably supported to the side plates by outer ends thereof.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1998Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Assignee: Diawa Seiko, Inc.Inventors: Nobuyuki Yamaguchi, Mikiharu Kobayashi, Hiroshi Toma, Masayoshi Ishikawa
