Abstract: An object of the present invention is to make it possible to easily attach a sound producing mechanism to a spool of a spinning reel and to compactly dispose the spool. An annular attachment member to which a hitting member of a sound producing mechanism is attached is detachably/reattachably mounted and fixed in an attachment recess that is formed to be annularly concaved in an inner peripheral portion of a bobbin trunk. Here, the annular attachment member is completely mounted in the attachment recess that is formed to be annularly concaved. Accordingly, it is possible to easily attach the attachment member to the attachment recess, and it is also possible to uniformly maintain the weight balance of a spool in the peripheral direction. In addition, here, the attachment member is mounted in the attachment recess. Thus, the attachment member is not likely to protrude backward from a rear end portion of the bobbin trunk, compared to the conventional configuration.

When the spreader is gradually moved to a second position, the gap is gradually expanded by the spreader, and the brake shoe is gradually expanded against the brake drum. Abstract: A fishing reel capable of generating click sound with rotational operation of an adjustment member for applying resistance to a spool shaft in adjustment of casting or drag resistance. The reel includes a click spring retained within a spring receiver barrel and engageable with teeth formed in an inner peripheral face of the adjustment member for maintaining a rotational position of the adjustment member. The click spring has an approximately inverse letter `V` shaped configuration including a top portion engageable with the teeth and a pair of leg portions extending respectively in opposite, outward directions from the top portion. The spring receiver barrel is attached to a reel body or to a handle shaft to be unrotatable relative thereto and has one axial open end to retain the spring therein. An anti-slipoff element is provided in the open end for preventing the click spring from slipping off the spring retainer opening.

  • Patent number: 5297757
Abstract: A fishing reel has a frame and a line spool rotatably mounted therein. The frame has a side plate with a circumferential flange formed with a circumferentially directed slot. A buzzer meachnism is mounted in the fishing reel. The buzzer mechanism has a gear wheel non-rotatably connected to the line spool, a trigger mounted on the circumferential flange, and a U-shaped spring leaf, one leg of which is connected to the trigger. The trigger is displaceable along the slot in the circumferential flange between a first position, in which it maintains the other leg of the spring leaf in engagement with the gear wheel so as to produce a buzzing sound when the line spool rotates, and a second position, in which it maintains the other leg of the leaf spring out of engagement with the gear wheel.

  • Patent number: 5279477
Abstract: A round producing apparatus for a spinning reel includes a sound producing piece in the form of a leaf spring attached to a disk mounted on a spool shaft, and an annular toothed element supported by a spool for acting on a distal end of the sound producing piece to produce a clicking sound. The sound producing piece is cantilevered and extends from the disk along directions of rotation of the spool. A coil spring acts as a one-way clutch for allowing the annular toothed element to rotate only in a line unwinding direction of the spool.

  • Patent number: 5265824
Abstract: A two-bearing reel includes a handle shaft, a drag control member relatively rotatable to the handle shaft, and a click mechanism disposed between a member provided in the handle shaft and a member provided in the drag control member and supporting the drag control member. The click mechanism maintains the drag control member in place every time it is pivoted by a predetermined amount. The click mechanism includes a concavo-convex surface peripherally continuously defined in either one of the member provided in the handle shaft and the member provided in the drag control member, and a ball member engageable with the concavo-convex surface and an elastic member urging the ball member toward a radial direction with the ball member being rollable provided in the other of the member provided in the handle shaft and the member provided in the drag control member.

  • Patent number: 5007602
Abstract: A click mechanism in a fishing reel is adapted to produce a click sound on relative rotation between a shaft having a first member non-rotatably connected thereto, and a second member which is rotatably mounted on the shaft. The click mechanism comprises a snap-action click ring which is provided between the first member and the second member. First teeth are formed on the side of the first member facing the snap-action click ring. Second teeth are formed on the side of the second member facing the snap-action click ring. The snap-action click ring comprises a first resilient tongue and a second resilient tongue which extend in the same direction in the circumferential direction of the snap-action click ring but are outwardly bent in opposite directions in the axial direction thereof. The first resilient tongue engages the first teeth, and the second resilient tongue engages the second teeth.
