Axial Unwinding Patents (Class 242/387)
  • Patent number: 11772848
Abstract: A container for dispensing a liquid can include a housing. The housing can have a top wall, a base, and side walls, which form a substantially cuboid shape and a substantially uniform rectangular cross-section. The housing further includes a reservoir forming a portion of an interior of the housing. The reservoir can be configured to store the liquid. An outlet can be formed in the housing and fluidly coupled to the reservoir. A pump can be disposed in the interior of the housing. The pump can be operable to transfer the liquid between the reservoir and the outlet. A method of operating the container for dispensing a liquid includes providing the container. The liquid reservoir portion can be filled. The container can be transported to a predetermined location. The hose can be positioned and the pump can be actuated. The container can then be stored.

  • Patent number: 10966417
Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter relates to a fishing reel attached to a fishing rod. The disclosed reel has no spool, but instead includes a canister that stores fishing line in an orderly free state via a crank attached to pinch rollers. The fishing line moves to storage by passing through the pinch rollers into the canister. The line entering storage curls to left or right dependent only on line memory, and stacks against the outer walls and to the rear in an orderly fashion. Further, the line is also capable of being extracted from the canister when the pinch rollers are opened. For example, the inertia of a fishing lure thrown by a fishing rod extracts free line from the canister at the same velocity as the moving lure. As a result, synchronization of the lure and fishing line occurs regardless of wind conditions. The problem of line backlash is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6988854
Abstract: Fiber-optic cable is dispensed underwater into a trench from a vehicle moving along the bed of the body of water. The cable is wound on a stationary spool and dispensed over the end of the spool by a rotary arm driven by a motor controlled to maintain a desired tension in the cable. The cable has a fiber optic core, metal wires wound around the core, and a tensioned laminate of copper tape adhered to plastic tape wound around the wires.

  • Patent number: 6618892
Abstract: A socket latch drum release assembly includes a shaft release coupling which telescopically engages a rotary drum shaft to selectively lock and unlock a rotary drum of a drain cleaning machine without the necessity of tools. The shaft release coupling includes a polygonal shaped distal end which corresponds with a polygonal opening in the removable drum shaft. At least one of the plurality of faces which form the polygonal shaped distal end includes a retractable engagement member which corresponds to a recess located in each face of the polygonal opening. The drum shaft is directed into the sleeve from one side and the shaft release coupling is engaged with the shaft on the opposite side of the sleeve. Engagement between a radially extending flange of the shaft release coupling and the end of the shaft rotatably locks the rotary drum shaft into the sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20020003183
Abstract: Trailing cable winch and method of operation in which an axially stationary, rotating winding arm is disposed in a carrier tube and driven by a motor arranged in the carrier tube. The trailing cable winch is operable to deposit a trailing cable on an axially reversibly movable cable drum which is disposed on the carrier tube. The rotation of the winding arm is synchronized with the advancing of the cable drum, so that, during a linear movement of the cable drum, the advance per rotation of the winding arm corresponds exactly to the diameter of the trailing cable. In the end position of the cable drum, two cable layers are deposited above one another.

  • Patent number: 6062503
Abstract: A hose storage device that can be removably or permanently attached to a vehicle or to the frame unit of a portable power unit, such as those used with hydraulic rescue tools for the extrication of persons trapped in automobiles, trailers, buildings, etc. One or more of the devices can be used with a single power unit depending on the number of hoses to be used with the power unit. Hose storage devices are lightweight, durable and help prevent the damage to hoses that can result from other storage systems.

  • Patent number: 5431404
Abstract: The present invention is a portable mechanism utilized to practice a golf swing. It includes a golf ball connected to a tethering line. When the golf ball is driven or otherwise projected a substantial distance, a spindle freely pays out the tethering line though a line guide. After the paying out of the tethered line has terminated, a battery operated motor rotates the spindle to permit for automatic retrieval of the golf ball. A swivel damper allows the golf ball to rotate relative to the tethering line, which eliminates the possibility of the tethering line twisting upon itself, and also assures that flight of the ball is in accordance with the manner in which it was struck. A housing, having open sides or entrances, allows for easy maintenance of the spindle and related components.
