  • Publication number: 20040262442
Abstract: A cable tensioner includes two members, such as a pipe and a tube, that define a cable path. The members are helically mobile relative to each other. A retractable detent permits the relative movement of the members in one direction and prevents the relative movement of the members in another direction. The cable tensioner is thus irreversible, regardless of the operating conditions. The cable tensioner is, for example, applicable to a cable used in a vehicle window regulator. The window regulator cable extends in a protective sheath. One end of the protective sheath abuts against the second member, and the second member acts on the end of the protective sheath to increase the cable path and cable tension.

  • Publication number: 20040251366
Abstract: An electric retractor extracts and retracts a seat belt in response to tension in the seat belt. The electric retractor may include a spool rotatably attached to a retractor frame. A seat belt is wound on the spool. The spool is rotated by a motor via a worm gear system that permits limited axial motion of the worm, but generally prevents the motor from being back-driven by tension in the seat belt to prevent forced seat belt extraction. The gear system may also cut off power to the motor in the event of excessive seat belt tension to prevent further payout of the seat belt. A senses tension in the seat belt and activates the motor to retract or extract the seat belt from the retractor. An emergency control system may override the web guide control in response to abnormal vehicle dynamics to provide reversible pre-crash pretensioning and/or crash pretensioning.

  • Publication number: 20040251367
Abstract: In a seat belt device, when the collision of a vehicle is foreknown, a motor of a retractor is driven for rotation in a normal direction to take up a webbing of a seat belt, and when an acceleration equal to or larger than a predetermined value is applied to the vehicle, the webbing is locked so that it cannot be drawn out of the retractor. In a case where the collision is avoided after the motor of the retractor is driven for rotation in the normal direction based on the foreknowing of the collision to increase the tension of the webbing of the seat belt, when it is detected by systems having information regarding the acceleration of the vehicle that the acceleration of the vehicle has been reduced to be smaller than the predetermined value, the locking operation of the retractor is cancelled to loose the webbing by driving the motor of the retractor for rotation in the normal direction.

  • Publication number: 20040079828
Abstract: In a webbing winding device, when an external gear of a clutch receives driving force of a motor and rotates in a winding direction, a pressing portion of an inertial plate pushes a pawl and meshes the pawl with outward teeth of an adaptor. Consequently, the winding shaft rotates in the winding direction. When the external gear receives rotating force of the motor and rotates in a drawing out direction, another pushing portion of the inertial plate pushes another pawl and meshes the pawl with the outward teeth of the adapter. Consequently, the winding shaft rotates in the drawing out direction. Thus, by providing these pawls, in this webbing winding device it is possible to transmit both forward-rotation and reverse-rotation of the motor for rotating the winding shaft.

  • Publication number: 20040075008
Abstract: A webbing retractor which, by causing relative rotation between a prime mover rotating body and a rotating disc, connects the prime mover rotating body and a driven shaft which is connected to a take-up shaft of a webbing belt. A planet gear is pivotally supported at a plate having a braking piece and meshes with a sun gear. The plate is supported so as to be swingable around the sun gear. When the sun gear is driven to rotate at greater than a predetermined speed, the planet gear begins to circle around the sun gear against urging force of a spring attached to the plate, and makes the plate rotate such that the braking piece slidingly contacts the friction ring. Due to this braking, the rotating disc connected to the friction ring rotates relative to the prime mover rotating body.

Abstract: A mechanism of a webbing retractor which can instantaneously apply driving force of a motor to a spool. At a base plate of a prime mover which is driven to rotate, two pawls are disposed at opposing positions at an outer side of an adapter connected to a take-up shaft of a webbing. The adapter includes a plurality of external teeth being formed along a periphery thereof at uniform intervals, a total number of which is an odd number. Accordingly, in a state in which both of the pawls contact the adapter, even if one of the pawls abuts an addendum of a tooth formed at an outer peripheral surface of the adapter, the other pawl does not abut an addendum of a tooth. One of the pawls quickly meshes with the adapter and rotates the adapter.

Three bores are formed at regular intervals on the support facing the external gear on a circumference around the center of the input shaft. The pins are engaged with the bores so that the external gear may be eccentrically moved. The number of internal teeth of the internal gear is slightly more than that of the external teeth of the external gear, thereby providing a reliable self-locking reduction device. As a pyrotechnic pretensioner is activated, a ring gear rotates in the counter-clockwise direction. Accordingly, an external tooth holding an end portion of a stopper is moved, whereby the end portion of the stopper becomes free. Therefore, the stopper expands because of its biasing force. Then, a release spring is released from the restriction of the stopper and thus pivots in the clockwise direction because of its biasing force. The release spring collides with a pin of the clutch pawl to press down the pin. In a first aspect of the invention, an electric motor drives a belt apparatus to transfer a fishing line between a fishing reel and a storage spool. The motor is positioned in a linear arrangement between the fishing reel and the storage spool. Fishing lines are installed and removed by reversing the direction of rotation of the motor. The belt apparatus includes resiliently mounted pair of idler pulleys which remove belt slack and increase belt wrap. An electronic control system is used to reverse and vary the speed of the motor. In a second aspect of the invention, the belt apparatus is driven by a manual crank. Both aspects of the invention are portable and enclosed in a case.

Abstract: A seat belt retractor is formed of a reel for winding a seat belt, and a spring member connected to the reel for providing a retracting force thereto. The retracting force is weak not to provide a feeling of oppression to a passenger when the passenger has fastened the seat belt. A motor is connected to the reel for driving the reel only in a direction of retracting the seat belt to generate a retracting force greater than that of the spring member. Thus, the seat belt retractor retracts the seat belt by sufficiently great retracting force, but does not provide a feeling of oppression to the person when properly fastened.
