    Abstract: A tarp deploying apparatus includes a frame assembly that is adapted for being attached to a lifting device, such as a forklift. A roller assembly extends laterally from the frame assembly. A tarp may be loaded onto the roller assembly by rolling the tarp onto a roller body. The tarp may be deployed in a desired position on a load of cargo on a flatbed trailer. The tarp is deployed on the cargo by driving the forklift alongside of the flatbed trailer and allowing the tarp to unroll off the roller body being pulled off the roller body by the weight and friction of the tarp on the load. The roller body may include hooks that help in loading the tarp onto the roller body, and allow the tarp to automatically fall off of the roller body during deployment.

The speed-limiting braking mechanism may have a rotatable pinion component connected to one or more brake shoes. The leash may be connected to a spool. Unwinding of the leash may rotate the spool, and rotation of the spool may rotate the pinion component. If the relative velocity exceeds the predetermined threshold, the one or more brake shoes may engage a braking liner to maintain the relative velocity at the predetermined threshold.

    Abstract: An anti-slip opening and closing device for an umbrella is described, which comprises a rope reeled on a roller positioned on a pole of the umbrella. The roller is screwed with a reel having a friction disc. The friction disc is set inside a notch of a ratchet wheel. An elastic accessory is positioned between the roller and the ratchet wheel for pushing the friction disc to lean against the ratchet wheel. A block part is disposed to resist the ratchet wheel reversing. A bearing positioned at a side of the reel leans against beads of a cap positioned on the pole. When the reel is rotated clockwise, the roller and the reel are screwed together, and the rope is reeled by the roller. Hence, the umbrella is opened due to the pull of the rope, and the roller is not reversed by the obstruction of the block part. On the other hand, the reel is backed from the roller by rotating counterclockwise and leans against the beads.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method of unrolling and stretching fence wire for use with a vehicle is disclosed. This device is designed to aid in the installation of fencing such as woven, barb or welded wire and other types of roll fencing. The device stretches fencing against the preset posts as it is spooling the fencing material by applying constant tension on the dispensed fencing. This device allows the installer to attach the fence to the posts without loosing tension and having to re-stretch the fence before permanently attaching it. The fencing material is guided through the tensioning rollers that apply pressure onto the fencing material. The tensioning rollers are adjustable and tension is applied to the wire by a brake mechanism. The device holds four rolls of fencing wire and allows for continuous fencing by splicing a new roll to the end of another before going through the tensioning rollers.

    Abstract: A hose dispenser has a rotatable reel 10, holding a coiled hose 12 suitable for conveying breathable gas, mounted on a tubular steel frame 14. The reel has a pivoting arm 16, which has a portion defining an aperture, or “eye” 18 fitted thereon. The hose is threaded through the eye 16 so that the free end of the hose protrudes through the eye. The free end of the hose is fitted with a resilient frusto-conical protective hood 20. The hood provides two functions. First, it enables the free end of the hose to engage the eye of the arm 16, and secondly, it protects a valve 22, located on the free end of the hose, from damage. Another valve 24 is provided in the centre of the reel, which is connected to the other end of the hose. In use, the free end of the hose is carried by an operative, or is attached to breathing apparatus worn by the operative, and the other end is connected to a source containing gas for breathing. The arm 16 is mounted pivotally on the reel.
