  • Patent number: 8955789
Abstract: In a method and a device for winding an acentric coil former, the coil former is set into a rotary motion with a winder drive, wherein the rotary motion of the coil former causes a wire attached to the coil former to be wound onto the coil former and unwound from a drum operatively connected to a brake drive, and the winder drive or the brake drive, or both, are controlled based on a rotation position of the coil former. The wire is unwound from the drum with a non-constant speed.

  • Patent number: 8590823
Abstract: A cord management system includes a strap. The strap has a first set of magnets attached to a first location on the strap and a second set of magnets attached to a second location on the strap. The strap also includes at least two modes of operation. In a first mode of operation, the first set of magnets is magnetically attached to the second set of magnets so that a first segment of the strap located between the first set of magnets and the second set of magnets forms a loop configured to secure a cord that is wrapped around the strap. In a second mode of operation, the first set of magnets is magnetically detached from the second set of magnets so that the first segment no longer forms the loop. The strap is also configured to be coupled to an object.

  • Patent number: 8510932
Abstract: A method for manufacture of a conductor assembly. The assembly is of the type which, when conducting current, generates a magnetic field or in which, in the presence of a changing magnetic field, a voltage is induced. In an example embodiment one or more first coil rows are formed. The assembly has multiple coil rows about an axis with outer coil rows formed about inner coil rows. A determination is made of deviations from specifications associated with the formed one or more first coil rows. One or more deviations correspond to a magnitude of a multipole field component which departs from a field specification. Based on the deviations, one or more wiring patterns are generated for one or more second coil rows to be formed about the one or more first coil rows. The one or more second coil rows are formed in the assembly. The magnitude of each multipole field component that departs from the field specification is offset.

  • Patent number: 8215002
Abstract: Traditional methods of making headlamp coils have left a portion of the coils with slightly irregular forms. These irregularities can result in defects in the ultimate beam pattern. Accommodating these defects in robust lamp and headlamp optical systems can reduce the performance that might otherwise be available. The preferred coil is therefore continuously coiled as a straight body, and carefully cut into segments. Subsequently, legs are welded to the coil segment ends. The coil is then left substantially undistorted by the manufacturing process that would otherwise normally leave a portion of the coils distorted. The method particularly enables a functional center leg coil.

  • Patent number: 6371404
Abstract: A bobbin for an electrical coil having a width that is small with respect to its depth. The bobbin is constructed from two identical halves, each having one generally flat flange and a web portion defining a latching feature, a locking feature and a core window centrally located in the flange. The mating surfaces of the two bobbin halves are defined along the distal ends of the web portions such that each half includes one complete flange and core window. The mating surfaces are also configured such as to prevent the fine coil wire from slipping between the mating surfaces of the two bobbin halves as the coil is being wound. The latching features of one bobbin half slidingly engage the latching features of the other bobbin half such that the two bobbin halves are held together. The locking features of the two bobbin halves also engage to prevent unintentional longitudinal movement between the two bobbin halves prior to winding the coil wire on the bobbin.
