Material Supply Coaxial With Core Patents (Class 242/441.4)
  • Patent number: 11878892
Abstract: An improved system for handling delicate linear media and in particular to a method and apparatus for winding delicate linear media such as superconducting wire or tape or optical fibers onto a spool or former. A combination of direct closed loop control and media routing design facilitates the handling of the delicate media without causing damage. The axial tension in the linear media may be closely controlled during winding by means of feedback control loop using tension measurements to control the rotation speeds of the wind-from and wind-to spools. Further, during winding, the delicate linear media is only exposed to large radius bends with no reverse bending. Finally, output devices and features, commercial or otherwise, made possible by delicate linear media handling are revealed. This includes advanced SC devices and features.

  • Patent number: 8955787
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus that prevents excessive unraveling of a fiber bundle due to variations in the speed at which the fiber bundle is wound includes a hoop winding device having a wrapping table, a bobbin support unit, a braking unit, a slack removal unit, a detector, and a controller. The slack removal unit absorbs slack caused by the difference between winding and unraveling speeds of the fiber bundle. The detector detects whether the amount of slack absorbed is equal to or greater than or is less than, a predetermined amount. When the amount of slack is equal to or greater than the predetermined amount, the controller increases the braking force of the braking unit for braking rotation of a bobbin. When the amount of slack is less than the predetermined amount, the controller reduces the braking force of the braking unit for braking rotation of the bobbin.

  • Patent number: 8955788
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus includes a hoop winding device mounted with bobbins that supply a fiber bundle. Each of the bobbins is whirled around a periphery of a liner to wind the fiber bundle around an outer peripheral surface of the liner. The hoop winding device is replaceable with another hoop winding device at a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 8113457
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus reduces fluctuations in a winding operation by bringing a plurality of guide portions that guide fiber bundles to a liner close to the liner in a winding unit. Each of the guide portions is a tubular member having a guide hole penetrated from a base end to a leading end portion. The leading end portion has a smaller thickness width. Each of the guide portions guides a second fiber bundle to the liner by passing the second fiber bundle from a side of the base end portion to a side of the leading end portion of the guide hole. By rotating each of the guide portions about an axis of the guide portion, and by sliding the guide portions in the radius direction of the liner, the guide portions can be brought close to the liner.

  • Patent number: 7896278
Abstract: A wiring apparatus includes a spool; an annular reel surrounding the spool to be rotatable about an axis common with the spool, the reel being previously wound with a wire in layers to be wound on the spool; a winding arm for guiding the wire from the reel to the spool and placed outside the reel so as to be movable around the spool about the axis; a first motor and others for driving the winding arm and others to move around the spool to wind the wire on the spool; and a second motor and others for driving the reel to rotate on the axis to unreel the wire of a required length from the reel during driving of the first motor.

  • Patent number: 6272816
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping net about bales formed in the baling chamber of a large round baler is arranged such that the net material supply roll is pressed directly against the driven wrap material feed roll by a pressure roll carried by a pair of transversely spaced lower arm portions of a lower arm section of a vertically swingable pressure arm assembly that also includes a separate, upper arm section. The force pressing the pressure roll against the supply roll originates with gas springs coupled to a linkage that is in turn coupled to transversely spaced upper arm portions of the upper arm section, these arm portions carrying respective force transfer rollers that engage respective intermediate sections of the lower arm portions.
