Patent number: 7980505Abstract: In a method for calculating the diameter of a continuous-material reel on a roller, with which the roller is mounted on a swivel arm that is swivelable about a swiveling axis; the roller rotates at a changeable winding speed, and the continuous material is unwound from the roller and directed to a continuous-material machine, or it is removed from a continuous-material machine and wound onto the roller, the winding speed is set as a function of the web-conveyance speed, and the diameter of the continuous-material reel is calculated in a reel-control system; the winding speed is changed when the swivel arm on which the roller is mounted is swiveled about its swiveling axis during the winding motion; a correction value for correcting the change in winding speed is incorporated in the calculation of the diameter of the continuous-material reel, the correction value being determined within the reel-control system, and a related reel-control system is provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2008Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Hans-Juergen Doeres, Stephan Schultze

Patent number: 7681830Abstract: A film feeding device etc. in which, even if film rolls in which tapes are applied to joint between films of the rolls are used, an occurrence of a bag making failure caused by the tape is prevented. A film feeding mechanism (10A) has a receiving member (72) for holding the leading edge of a film (1B) of the standby side and a joining sealer (71) for joining films (1A, 1B). A tape (B) applied to the film (1A) on the use side is detected by a sensor (83), and according to the result of the detection, a cutter (81) cuts of the film (1A) at a portion on the downstream side of the tape. Then, the cut film (1A) and the film (1B) of the standby side are joined by the joining sealer (71), and the two films joined are sent as a long film.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2005Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: Orihiro Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Orihiro Tsuruta, Shunji Yamada, Takayuki Yokoyama

Patent number: 7201345Abstract: A system and method for splicing reeled media using operational feedback. According to certain embodiments, the method of operating a media production system involves sensing speed parameters of first and second reeled media, tracking an unwinding parameter of the first reeled media, and positionally tracking a leading end position of the second reeled media. The method also involves controlling splicing between the first and second reeled media based at least partially on the speed parameters, the unwinding parameter, and the leading end position.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2003Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: Rockwell Automation Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Peter H. Patent number: 6981537Abstract: A tape splicing mechanism joins the tail of one tape to the leading edge of another tape. A frame defines a passageway along which the tape passes. A pair of arms rotatably attached to the frame have projecting posts and rotate between a first position where the posts are closer to the pathway and a second position where they are further from the pathway. The arms are urged toward the first position and a catch mechanism holds them in the second position until released by a release mechanism when a release indicia in the first tape passes. The leading edge of the second tape is looped around the first tape to form a loose knot and is tied to the post on each side of the first tape. When the arms are released they move to the second position and tighten the knot.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2003Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Assignee: Industrial Adhesives, Inc.Inventors: Gilles Cyr, Elvin Dalebout, Ronald L. Patent number: 6764040Abstract: In the case where the width of a web roll for the next job is much different from that of the web roll for the former job, the rotational position of the new web roll is moved to a position at which a web of the new roll is easily pasted to the web of the old roll and the new web roll is held at the position. A device for continuously supplying a web can continuously supply the web by adhering the web of an old web roll onto the web of the new web roll. The device includes a manual paper paster setting means for setting a manual paper paster mode and a control device for locating/stopping the rotational position of the new web roll at an adhering waiting position in response to a signal from the manual paper paster setting means.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2002Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Komori CorporationInventor: Hirotaka Kiyota
