  • Patent number: 9656822
Abstract: A support device for supporting a cylindrical member around which is wound an elongated body has: a support shaft for supporting the cylindrical member that is fitted to an external surface of the support shaft from an opening on one end in a longitudinal direction of the cylindrical member; an anchoring plates, built into the support shaft, for anchoring the cylindrical member from an inner circumferential side of the cylindrical member; and an operating means having an operation shaft of a smaller diameter than the support shaft, the operation shaft protruding forward from a distal end of the support shaft in order to operate the anchoring plates. Further, the support device has a protecting member which is attached to the distal end of the support shaft and through which is inserted the operation shaft. The protecting member further has a reduced-diameter section smaller in diameter than the support shaft.

  • Publication number: 20110017861
Abstract: A core assembly for a continuous sheet includes a core of a cylindrical form. A side channel is formed in the core to extend fully in an axial direction thereof. A shaft hub is disposed through the core movably in the axial direction. A changing unit or adjuster displaces the core in response to moving of the shaft hub between first and second positions, and enlarges an outer diameter of the core when the shaft hub is in the second position than when the shaft hub is in the first position. Preferably, the changing unit includes a cam roller, disposed on the shaft hub, for projecting in a radial direction. A cam ramp surface is formed with an inner surface of the core, has a height increasing toward the second position, is pressed by the cam roller.

  • Patent number: 7128290
Abstract: A spool suitable for winding material thereon includes an axially extending body having a proximal end and a distal end joined by an outer surface. A cam is rotatably mounted adjacent to the body for rotatable movement between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the cam secures the material to the spool and a portion of the cam extends radially outwardly from the body to define a first effective diameter of the spool. In the open position, the cam is spaced from the body to release the material secured to the spool and the portion of the cam retracts toward the body to define a second effective diameter of the spool which is less than the first effective diameter.

  • Patent number: 7077356
Abstract: A core chuck includes “lock and key” or “key and keyhole” interfaces between the central cam and the mounting plate and the central cam and the end cap. The central cam includes central region having a multi-faceted camming surface adapted to expand and retract a plurality of jaws as is well known. Unlike known core chucks, the first end of the central core has a non-circular perimeter and the mounting plate includes a cavity sized and shaped to substantially correspond to the non-circular perimeter of the central and form a “lock and key” or “key and keyhole” arrangement. A plurality of fasteners secure the central cam to the mounting plate with their heads disposed proximate the second end region of the central cam. The end cap includes a second cavity sized and shaped to form a “lock and key” or “key and keyhole” arrangement with the heads of the fasteners.

  • Patent number: 7044418
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for winding/unwinding metal strips, in particular for steel bands, comprising a mandrel (4) mounted mobile in rotation in a bearing (4a), and serves to provide means for pivoting, seizing, centering and suppoting the mandrel (4) of the winding/unwinding device. Therefor, the invention is characterized in that the bearing of the mandrel (4) is enclosed, on the outer ring (6) of the bearing, in an annular slot (7), and said outer ring (6) can be centered by means of a fixing element (8) capable of being closed inwards when the mandrel (4) is inserted, or can be freely mobile inside said annular slot (7) when the fixing elements (8) are returned outwards.

  • Patent number: 6533205
Abstract: A fiber optic cable winding tool having concentric upper and lower disk-shaped bases that are rotatable relative to each other. Four quarter-circle spools are slidably mounted on the upper base, and are radially adjustable towards and from the central axis of the upper base via radial slots formed in the lower base. Each spool has a fiber optic cable contacting surface with a radius of curvature exceeding a minimum bend radius of the fiber optic cable. The radial slots communicate with corresponding arcuate slots formed in the lower base, and roller guides are provided through each radial slot and its corresponding arcuate slot and connects to a corresponding spool. When the upper and lower bases are rotated relative to each other, the spools move either towards or away from the central axis of the upper base, enabling a spool a diameter to be set. A thumb screw is also provided to bear against the rear base and maintain the desired diameter setting.

  • Patent number: 6367733
Abstract: A core chuck has a generally spool-shaped mandrel with an outer surface configured to define three longitudinally extending lobes. A set of three or more arcuate friction plates surround the lobular outer surface of the mandrel and are movably held in place with elastic bands. Each friction plate has an inner surface contoured to conform to the shape of a corresponding lobe of the mandrel and an outer surface for frictionally engaging the inside surface of a core. The outer surfaces of the friction plates align to form a cylindrical shell. The friction plates are circumferentially slidable around the mandrel between first or retracted positions wherein the plates rest on their respective lobes and form a shell of a first diameter and second or expanded positions wherein the friction plates span adjacent lobes and form a shell of a second diameter greater than the first diameter.
