Abstract: A drop assembly for a paper product dispenser is provided that transitions an upper carriage for a second roll of paper product into a primary or first position after depletion of a first or primary roll of paper product without user intervention. The drop assembly transitions the upper carriage into approximately the same position previously occupied by the lower carriage, allowing a small aperture in a front face of a dispenser to be used. Additionally, the drop assembly can include a reset connection to transition the drop assembly back to the firsts position upon opening of a dispenser front face.

Abstract: Rolling assembly for packaging web material in a roll having a base member with concave arcuate feed surface defining an upwardly-extending ramp, first intermediate member movably coupled to base member, and top member moveably coupled to at least one of base member or first intermediate member, top member having a concave arcuate pressure surface facing feed surface of base member. The base member, first intermediate member and top member collectively forming an iris with a feed space, the iris moveable between a first condition and a second condition, and configured to receive web material along the feed surface and direct the web material upwardly toward the top member to form a roll within the feed space, the iris moving toward a second condition as the roll of web material increases in cross dimension against the pressure surface of the top member.

Abstract: An assembly for supporting a roll of sheet product with respect to a sheet product dispenser is provided including a mandrel configured to be positioned within a housing of the dispenser and a spindle. The spindle includes a spindle body positioned over the mandrel and configured to be received within a central opening of the roll. The spindle includes first and second sets of friction elements extending away from respective ends of the spindle body. Each friction element is configured to extend radially inward from the spindle body so as to provide a contact force against the mandrel when the spindle is installed on the mandrel. The contact forces applied against the mandrel may be designed to be constant irrespective of whether the roll of sheet product is installed on the spindle and/or if the inner surface of the central opening of the roll of sheet product has any inconsistencies.

Abstract: A core plug for supporting a roll of sheet product with respect to a sheet product dispenser is provided. The core plug may include a shell and a support. The shell may be positioned about a longitudinal axis of the core plug and configured to be at least partially inserted into a central opening of the roll of sheet product. The support may be movably attached to the shell and configured to engage a support feature of the sheet product dispenser such that the roll of sheet product is rotatably supported with respect to the sheet product dispenser. The support may be positioned at least partially within the shell, and at least a portion of the support may be configured to translate relative to the shell in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the core plug.

Abstract: An unwinder for a sheet material has a housing and has crosspieces arranged laterally in the housing. To ensure the functionality of the unwinder even in the case of relatively large winding cores or of relatively large rollers, the crosspiece is connected, in a releasable and non-releasable manner, to an accommodating element of which the surface-area portions, which correspond to the crosspiece, enclose the crosspiece and have accommodating surfaces for the product which is to be unwound.

Abstract: Methods are provided for operating a web medium supply for a printer and or operating a printer having a web medium supply to which any of a plurality of different cores can be mounted, each core having a web. In one aspect, a core data condition is detected indicating that an automatic core data acquisition process is to be executed and conditions are sensed from which a difference in the rotational positions of a first engaged surface at a first end of the core and a second engaged surface at a second end of the core can be determined. Data regarding the web on the core is determined based upon the sensed conditions.

Abstract: A reel dispenser includes a housing, a coupling associated with a reel and a mounting for removably mounting the coupling to the housing so that the coupling is movable between a mounted and a dismounted condition. The coupling includes a key. The mounting includes a lock arrangement which is movable between a locked condition and a free condition. The reel dispenser is arranged so that when the coupling is moved from the dismounted condition to the mounted condition, the key moves the lock arrangement to the free condition, permitting rotation of the coupling relative to the housing.

Abstract: A printer having improved operational features. The printer includes an articulating print frame assembly coupled to a top cover that is adapted to rotate out of the top cover to an open position and to rotate into the top cover to a closed position. When the print frame is in an open position, the top cover is prevented from rotating toward the bottom housing to a closed position. The printer may include at least one media support member with a media adjustment channel disposed therein, a media adjustment member slidingly disposed through each of the media adjustment channels, and a resilient member configured to apply friction between each of the media adjustment members and the corresponding media support member.

Abstract: An end plug to be inserted axially into the centre of an end of a roll of paper, includes a holding element adapted to hold and/or guide the end of the roll of paper in correct position in a dispenser. The end plug includes an outer sleeve having an outer end and an inner end and the holding element is connected to the sleeve by elements allowing the holding element to be axially moved from a first position to a second position, in which the holding element protrude outwardly from the outer end of the sleeve, the holding element being releasably held in the first position when moved thereto. A roll of tissue paper including such an end plug and a dispenser provided with such a roll are also disclosed.

Abstract: Tools, devices and methods of modifying existing toilet paper and paper towels that do not have inner cardboard tubes with insert adapters to modify the nondefined openings in the rolls. The adapter tools can slide onto the ends of the spindles and have narrow tip exteriors, and/or have threaded exterior surfaces, and the like. Inserts can have spiral cut grooves or spiral raised ribs, with a chamfered tip end and an enlarged base end.

Abstract: Web medium supplies for a printer that uses a web medium on a core and printers are provided. In one aspect, the web medium supply has a frame with a first mounting support and second mounting support that are positioned along an axis of rotation. A first core mounting supports the core for rotation around the axis of rotation and a second core mounting supports the core for rotation around the axis of rotation. Rotation of the core is controlled by a first force applied to the first core mounting and a second force applied to the second core mounting that are both less than a third force that is sufficient to drive an alternative core against an inertial load of the core and web from one driven end.

Abstract: An end plug to be inserted axially into the center of an end of a roll of paper, includes a holding element adapted to hold and/or guide the end of the roll of paper in correct position in a dispenser. The end plug includes an outer sleeve having an outer end and an inner end and the holding element is connected to the sleeve by elements allowing the holding element to be axially moved from a first position to a second position, in which the holding element protrude outwardly from the outer end of the sleeve, the holding element being releasably held in the first position when moved thereto. A roll of tissue paper including such an end plug and a dispenser provided with such a roll are also disclosed.

Abstract: A retention mechanism in a dispenser for retaining an exchangeable roll of material, the retention mechanism includes a housing including a front wall. An insertion slot for a bearing pin of an end plug of the exchangeable roll extends along the front wall. A cam lock is arranged in the housing so as to be rotatable in a plane which is parallel to the front wall and to the direction of extension of the insertion slot. The cam lock includes a retaining member which is movable between an open position and a locked position by rotating the cam lock. When the retaining member is in the open position, the bearing pin can be inserted into the insertion slot, and when the retaining member is in the closed position, the bearing pin is retained in a locking section of the insertion slot.

In one aspect a web supply system has frame with a first mounting support and second mounting support that are positioned along an axis of rotation and separated by a separation distance during the supply of web, a first core mounting having a first surface that is rotatably supportable by the first mounting support for rotation about the axis of rotation and a first engagement end to provide support for a first end of a core, and; a second core mounting having a second surface that is rotatably supportable by the second mounting for rotation about the axis of rotation and a second engagement end to provide support for a second end of the core. The mountings support a core that has one or more surface at an angle that corresponds to one or more angle of a surface on the mountings.

Abstract: An automatic product dispenser determines if the roll loaded into the dispenser is approved for use with the dispenser. The core of a roll contains a feature that alters an electromagnetic field created proximate the core. The alteration of the electromagnetic field may then be used to determine if the core, and thus the roll, is usable with the dispenser. The feature is designed such that it is damaged once product is completely dispensed from the roll thereby preventing replenishment and reuse of a spent roll.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide pool cover components that are more resistant to corrosion than current cover assemblies. Certain embodiments provide polymer hubs that separate potentially corrosive-prone components from one another. The polymer hubs isolate dissimilar metals, preventing them from conducting electricity and speeding the corrosion process. Other embodiments provide a coating on one or more of the components to prevent electrical conductivity.

Abstract: A retention mechanism (40) for a dispenser for retaining an end plug (10) of an exchangeable roll of material includes an insertion slot extending between a receiving end (54) and a seating region (50) for inserting a bearing pin (22) of the end plug. The bearing pin has at least a first portion (26) with a first diameter, and a second portion (28) with a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. A pin discriminator (46) is at least at the receiving end and narrows the receiving end so only bearing pins can enter the receiving slot which have a maximum outer diameter in the second portion which equals the second diameter. A rejecting slot (48) extends from the seating region and is dimensioned so only bearing pins with a predetermined maximum diameter in the first portion which is smaller than the first diameter will enter the rejecting slot.

The roller also includes a rotary actuator with a shaft, slidably attached to the top portion. A main frame consisting of a top member, side member, base member and an end gate, extends down from the shaft of the rotary actuator. The end gate of the main frame is configured to pivot open and closed. The main frame is configured to rotate with the shaft.

Abstract: The disclosure herein provides a roll support system for a rolled web material dispenser which ensures that the proper rolled web material is installed in the dispenser and that the rolled web material is properly aligned in the dispenser. The system limits the size of the core or core plug that can be supported by the support in a towel dispenser. Also disclosed is a system to provide different sized roll caps and supports to ensure that the dispenser is dispensing web material which the dispenser as designed to dispense.

Abstract: The end piece for a roll of wiping material comprises a cylindrical bearing surface tightly fitted into a core that supports the roll, a transverse flange that protrudes from the cylindrical bearing surface and rests against an opposite-facing surface of the core and the roll, and an axially extending neck that has a head with an internal hole and a hollowed-out section forming a guide groove. The hollowed-out section is located between the head and the cylindrical bearing surface. The head and part of the hollowed-out section are deformable and internally provided with a hole that creates deliberate fragility facilitating, by crushing, their deformation as the core and the end piece are extracted from an accommodating side plate. After the core and end piece have been extracted, the head of the end piece is, in its final state, permanently deformed and cannot be reused.

Abstract: The insert for roll paper products is pliable, preferably scent-impregnated, foam material that can be wrapped around a dispensing bar of a rolled paper dispenser, and resiliently grips the bar while adding friction to the total dispensing system. The dispensing bar and insert combination is then slid through the hollow core of a rolled paper product. The sleeve has dentate ends that extend beyond the ends of the paper roll. When the product core is rotated while paper is being dispensed, the passage of air through the dentate ends helps to dispense and distribute the scent through the environment proximate the paper dispenser. Moreover, the resilient foam insert provides friction between the paper roll and the foam structure, while also adding friction between the foam structure and the dispensing bar. This feature acts as a brake to prevent excess rollout of the rolled product when being dispensed.

A guiding and retaining groove is provided along the length of the projecting attachment to form a guide path. A cooperating guide is provided on a bracket that supports the roll of material. The guide is disposed on an inner side of the bracket and comprises slightly-projecting flats which form and define a channel to receive the projecting attachment of the endpiece as so enable the endpiece to be inserted and retained therein. The channel extends into a part for receiving the endpiece following the insertion thereof.

Abstract: A rolled sheet support mechanism has two spaced-apart guide plates for accommodating therebetween a rolled sheet. A displacement member carries a pair of opposed, axially slidable bobbins and pivots between an attachment position wherein the rolled sheet can be inserted between and held by the bobbins and an accommodation position wherein the rolled sheet is ready for use. A pair of biasing members compressed between the guide plates and bobbins elastically press the bobbins to the rolled sheet. The spacing between the guide plates is larger in the region of the attachment position than in the region of the accommodation position so that when the displacement member pivots from the attachment position to the accommodation position, the biasing members slide along the guide plates and further compress to increase the force at which the bobbins press against the rolled sheet.

Abstract: A lock mechanism for a dispenser in combination with an exchangeable roll of material is provided, wherein the roll includes at least one end plug with a bearing pin for mounting the roll to the lock mechanism. The lock mechanism comprises a lock housing with a guide slot for insertion of the bearing pin. The guide slot has a first section with a first width and a second section with a second width which is smaller than the first width. First and second sections are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of the guide slot and in a longitudinal direction of the bearing pin. A sliding element is mounted to the lock housing and movable between a first position closing or narrowing the width of the guide slot and a second position opening the guide slot. A lock element is mounted to the sliding element and is rotationally movable about an axis of rotation between a locked position and an unlocked position.

The third portion has a U-shaped cutout defining a cantilevered flexible finger oriented to align with the central longitudinal axis, and the first and second portions have unbroken surfaces of the body around the perimeter of the body at the first and second ends, respectively. The finger has a dorsal-type fin extending perpendicular to the outer surface of the finger.

The holder includes a body having first and second ends and an engagement surface disposed therebetween contactable with a planar end surface of the rolled product, and a protrusion extending from the engagement surface toward the rolled product, the protrusion being engageable within an opening in the planar end surface. The root section is disposed at the first end and a tab disposed at the second end of the body. The tab extends radially away from the axis of the rolled product and axially away from the engagement surface. The tab has a greatest radial portion displaced from a plane defined by the engagement surface in a direction opposite to a direction in which the protrusion is extended. The tab has a contour that mirrors a user's thumb.

Abstract: The invention provides a paper roll, a bushing for a paper roll and a combination of a paper roll with a dispenser. The paper roll comprises a hollow paper roll core with two opposite extremities. The bushing has a cylindrical body press-fitted into at least one of the extremities of the paper roll core and the bushing further comprises a circular end wall frangibly fixed to a first end of the body and closing the extremity of the paper roll core. The end wall is provided with a central pin-receiving hole. The end wall is designed to breaks off when removing the paper roll from the dispenser. Thus, the bushing cannot be reused. Therefore, this invention participates in the enhancement of a quality control system.

In a first version, each of the bearing members has a flat side and a spherical side, which is turned inward for snap-in loading and outward for drop-in loading. In another version, the bearing members are moved inward for snap-in loading and outward for drop-in loading.

Abstract: An adapter for dispensing coreless or solid rolled product from an existing recessed roll product dispenser is disclosed. The adapter also allows for rolled product to be dispensed from the existing recessed dispenser where the rolls being dispensed may have a larger diameter than allowed by the recessed dispenser without the adapter. A system for dispensing coreless or solid rolled product from an existing recessed dispenser is also disclosed.

Abstract: A paper holder is attachable to a recording paper storage chamber of a printer. The paper holder has a loading lid to cover a part of the recording paper storage chamber. And a press mechanism to press the rolled recording paper to a paper-supply roller is incorporated. The press mechanism consists of a first press plate and a second press plate. In receipt of a slight urge by a torsion coil spring, the first press plate presses the rolled recording paper to the paper-supply roller. On closing the loading lid of the recording paper storage chamber, the hold-down section of the loading lid presses the second press plate, which compresses a compression spring with the first press plate, to apply its counterforce to the first press plate.

Abstract: A dispenser for solid rolls of web material, includes a frame, a cover connectable to the frame, to together with the frame define a volume for storing a roll of web material from which web material can be dispensed, a frame roll support projection, and a cover roll support projection, the two roll support projections being arranged to enable rotatably engaging the roll of web material in or near its rotational axis, an outlet opening in the dispenser, to enable web material to be withdrawn from the dispenser, where at least one of the frame or cover roll support projections is rotatably mounted in a bearing.
