Abstract: A wire level gauge for indicating the level of wire in a wire storage container and a method for determining the level of wire in a wire storage container using the wire level gauge. The wire level gauge has a level indicator with a magnet which is slidably movable on a measuring bar. The level indicator moves on the measuring bar and follows a leading edge of the wire in the wire storage container as the wire is dispensed from the wire storage container.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge in which an ability to assemble a security tag into a case is excellent is provided. A recording tape cartridge includes: a case that accommodates a reel on which a recording tape is wound; a security tag having a substantially pillar shape, that is provided within the case, and that is adapted to transmit to and receive from an exterior; and a holding portion formed in the case, that holds the security tag by having the security tag fitted with the holding portion.

Abstract: The present invention provides a recording tape cartridge in which an ability to assemble a security tag into a case is excellent. A recording tape cartridge has: a case that accommodates a reel on which a recording tape is wound; a security tag having a substantially pillar shape, that is provided within the case, and that is adapted to transmit to and receive from an exterior; a holding member that is provided within the case, and that holds the security tag at a first end side of the holding member; and a portion to be fit that is formed within the case, and which is held by being fitted with a second end side of the holding member.

Abstract: A cord material dispenser comprising a container including a surrounding sidewall having first and second openings and first and second cord materials disposed in the container. The first and second cord materials are dispensable through their respective first and second openings. The first cord material is preferably wound around a first spool and the second cord material is preferably wound around a second spool. The dispenser may include a first quantity of the first cord material and a second quantity of the second cord material, wherein the first quantity is less than the second quantity. For example, the first quantity may be one fourth of the second quantity. Preferably, the container includes indicia indicative of the ratio of the first quantity to the second quantity. The indicia may be in the form of a graphic representative of the intended use of the spooled materials.

Abstract: A wire reel containing portion 3 of a reinforcing bar binding machine 1 is provided with a rotation detecting lever 8 and a photosensor 7. When a wire reel is rotated in starting to bind a wire, rotation thereof is detected by the rotation detecting lever switched ON/OFF by a projected portion formed at a side face of the wire reel, the photosensor detects a reflection mark of the wire reel to determine a kind of the wire from a number of the marks, and a twist torque or the like is controlled. Wire information is detected not in an initializing operation (in setting wire) of rotating the wire reel at low speed but in a binding operation of rotating at high speed and therefore, an amount of swinging the rotation detecting lever is large and wire information can firmly be detected.

Abstract: A reinforcement binding machine capable of detecting, by the rotation of a reel, that wire on the reel is consumed and the reel, the reinforcement binding machine wherein an interrupter is installed in the cassette case of a binding machine body, a cover is rotatably held on a reel mounting shaft, an opening part is formed in the cover, a projection is formed on the reel and fitted into the opening part, and a color with a lightness different from that of the cover is applied to the projection to detect the rotation of the reel by the interrupter.

Abstract: A reinforcement binding machine (1), comprising a wire reel storage part (3) having a rotation detection lever (8) and a photo sensor (7). When a wire reel is rotated in starting binding, the rotation detection lever is turned on and off by a projected part formed on the side face of the wire reel to detect the rotation, and the photo sensor detects a reflection mark on the wire reel to discriminate the type of the wire by a mark number so as to control torsional torque, etc. Since wire information is detected in binding operation when the wire reel is rotated at a high speed not in initialization operation (in setting the wire) when the wire reel is rotated at a low speed, the swing amount of the rotation detection lever is large and, accordingly, the wire information can be securely detected.

Abstract: A reinforcing bar binder capable of certainly identifying the type of a wire reel and automatically adjusting the amount of feeding of the wire wound around the wire reel or the twisting torque on the wire is provided. The reinforcing bar binder feeds a wire while rotating a wire reel mounted in a storing chamber and binds a reinforcing bar. The storing chamber is provided with a first detecting means for detecting the amount of rotation of the wire reel and a second detecting means for detecting the number of second to-be detecting portions on the wire reel during the amount of rotation detected by the first detecting means. The binder main body is provided with controlling means for controlling the amount of feeding of the wire or the twisting torque on the wire based on the basis of the number of the second to-be-detected portions detected by the second detecting means.

Abstract: A sheet material supply roll wrapped on a core tube including a reserve segment of sheet material spirally wrapped around the core tube with a supply segment of sheet material spirally wrapped on top of the reserve segment of sheet material. Different methods for placement or attachment of the roll ends are provided including perforated, overlapping, spaced, and integrated flap methods and apparatus. Further, a cross oriented low supply indicator is provided on the supply roll to provide a quick indicator of the end of roll without disrupting the remaining integrity of the supply.

Abstract: A drum for storing and dispensing a coiled material wound on the drum, in particular a line of clips, the drum comprising a drum body which has a hub and side walls respectively disposed at the axial end faces of the hub, the side walls extending beyond the outer circumferential surface of the hub in the radial direction, wherein the storage space defined by the inner facing surfaces of the side walls and the hub and extending circumferentially around the hub is used to accommodate the coiled material. The drum body has at least one dielectric region for accommodating at least one transponder on an area of the hub facing away from the storage space for the coiled material.

Abstract: A low reserve indicator mechanism for a supply of paper towels is disclosed. The mechanism includes a base, a pushplate, and an indicator. The pushplate is connected to the base with a translational degree of freedom therebetween, is biased in a first direction relative to the base, and is responsive to a first attribute of the supply of paper towels to translate opposite the first direction. The indicator is pivotally connected to the pushplate, and is movable between a retracted position and an indicating position in response to a second attribute of the supply of paper towels.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method collects data on rolled product usage at a dispensing location by monitoring the amount of product pulled or removed from a roll. A spindle assembly may be configured to support a product roll. The spindle assembly includes a rotating member disposed about a sensor. The sensor is capable of detecting one or more parameters of product usage from the roll. Furthermore, the sensor may be configured to measure at least the degree of movement of the rotating member during removal of product from the roll. A recording device also may be provided for receiving data from the sensor, the recording device being adapted for receiving and recording data. Data that may be generated, and may be recorded, includes roll product usage data. An electronically controlled system of monitoring product inventory, and/or ordering more product when inventory falls below a predetermined threshold amount is also included.

The legs of a metal or plastic split pin pass through the central mounting apertures straddling an inner end of a coil of strap material and secure the container plates together while mounting the coil of strap material for rotation within the container. A guide stop having a guide slot for the passage of the free end of the strap material is provided on the outer surface of the cylindrical wall a predetermined distance from the dispensing slot.

Abstract: A winding tube is provided for a web-shaped semi-finished product or finished product. The tube comprises a cylindrical, elongated tube body having an inner wall. A data carrier that can be read in a contactless manner and that contains data about the web-shaped semi-finished product or finished product is secured to the tube body by means of a tubular holding element, positioned within the tube body. The data carrier is held in the interior of the tube body spaced from the inner wall.

Abstract: A tape cartridge capable of reliably identifying difference in type among tape cartridges without causing a tape drive side to have increased costs is provided. On the outer surface of a main case, an identification indicator is formed in a stripe shape having a grain printed portion and a mirror surface portion arranged alternately toward a loading direction of a magnetic tape cartridge onto a tape drive. An indicator format of the identification indicator on the magnetic tape cartridge, which is displaced and moved in the loading direction when loading operation of the magnetic tape cartridge onto the tape drive is conducted, is read by an optical reader mounted on the tape drive. This makes it possible to obtain type information on the magnetic tape cartridge on the tape drive side.

Abstract: A wrapping material indicator arrangement for a wrapping machine, in particular a rotobaler. The indicator is supported on the circumference of a wrapping material roll, from which wrapping material is withdrawn during a wrapping operation. A rotating counter roll, pressed against the wrapping material roll, drives a rotating wheel mounted on an arm that allows the wheel to translate through an arc. The translation of the wheel and arm indicates the amount of wrapping material left on the wrapping material roll and its rotation allows an operator to monitor the operation of the rotobaler for malfunctions during the wrapping operation.

Abstract: The utility strap dispenser is a container having a top plate and a bottom plate with central mounting apertures. A cylindrical wall having a dispensing slot is provided on an upper surface of the bottom plate defining a chamber for receiving a coil of strap material and a peripheral flange upon the bottom plate. The legs of a metal split pin pass through the central mounting apertures straddling an inner end of a coil of strap material and the free ends of the legs are bent back against the top surface of the top plate securing the container plates together and mounting the coil of strap material for rotation within the container. A guide stop having a guide slot for the passage of the free end of the strap material is provided on the outer surface of the cylindrical wall a predetermined distance from the dispensing slot.

Abstract: A spool is provided having opposing identical end flanges coupled to a central barrel. An annular rim portion of the flanges is provided with a plurality of openings positioned at different radial and circumferential positions. The openings are sized such that if the openings were rotated into angular alignment, the openings would span the annular rim portion from an inner radius to an outer radius. The openings thus allow a user to view contents of the spool. Each flange may further provide a generally semi-circularly shaped recess sized and shaped to receive a winding dog.

Abstract: A stencil material roll includes stencil material in a continuous length rolled around a core tube and a memory IC which stores predetermined information. The memory IC is mounted on a wall portion which forms a part of the core tube or on a wall portion fixed to the core tube, and an easy-to-cut portion is provided on the wall portion to surround the portion where the memory IC is mounted.

A discrimination recess rectangular in plan view is provided between the positioning recess and an inner base end of a holder support member). The discrimination recess fittingly receives a sheet discrimination part extending in a predetermined length from a lower end of the positioning holding member inward at substantially right angle thereto. The sheet discrimination part is formed with sensor holes arranged in an L-shaped pattern. In the discrimination recess, there are provided sheet discrimination sensors arranged in an L-shaped pattern.

Abstract: An improved detectable spool for use with a ribbon includes an improved hub which includes a core and an indication member. The indication member is a generally planar metallic member that is substantially embedded in or is otherwise mounted to the core, with the indication member including a support and a plurality of tabs. In at least one embodiment the indication member is a monolithically formed single-piece member, while in another embodiment the indication member is a multi-component member.

Abstract: A paper towel dispenser dispenses towels from a paper supply and includes a dispenser housing a low-reserve indicator mechanism for indicating when a reserve quantity of the paper supply is low. The dispenser housing has a housing wall structure on which the low-reserve indicator mechanism is affixed. The paper supply has vertically super imposed edge portions which form an outwardly facing vertical side of the paper supply. The low-reserve indicator mechanism includes an indicator mounted for movement between a retracted position and an indicating position for establishing a low-reserve indication detectable from outside of the dispenser house. The indicator mechanism also includes a release mechanism adapted to be spring-biased into contact with the vertical side of the paper supply. The release mechanism is released for movement in response to becoming unsupported by a diminishing height of the vertical side of the paper supply to cause the indicator to move to its indicating position.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method is shown for collecting data on rolled product usage at a dispensing location by monitoring the amount of product pulled or removed from a roll. In the invention, a spindle assembly may be configured to support a product roll. The spindle assembly includes a rotating member in operable connection to the spindle. A sensor is connected to the spindle assembly. The sensor is capable of detecting one or more parameters of product usage from the roll. Furthermore, the sensor may be configured to measure at least the degree of movement of the rotating member during removal of product from the roll. A recording device also may be provided for receiving data from the sensor, the recording device being adapted for receiving and recording data. Data that may be generated, and may be recorded, includes roll product usage data.

Abstract: A production managing method for production of motion picture photo film is provided. At first, film web is slitted to produce continuous photo film having a predetermined width. Production managing information is written to an RFID (radio frequency identification) tag, and includes a roll number and slitting number, which are related to the film web and the continuous photo film. The continuous photo film is cut to produce motion picture photo film. The production managing information is stored in association with the motion picture photo film. The motion picture photo film is checked. If the motion picture photo film has a defect, the production managing information may be referred to for detecting a portion of the film web or the continuous photo film from which the defect derives. Other motion picture photo films with a defect will be traced.

The indication member is a generally planar metallic member that is substantially embedded in the core, with the indication member including a support and a plurality of tabs. Abstract: A talking toilet paper roll holder comprises an elongated housing member and an elongated spring loaded shaft member having a longitudinal axis disposed of along a longitudinal axis of the elongated housing member. Each end of the elongated spring loaded shaft member is adapted for engagement with a wall mounted housing member for such holder. There is further a battery operated talking device disposed on the inside of the housing member at a predetermined location and a switch disposed on the talking device in a position to be engaged by a spring loaded switch activation means that is carried on the shaft member. The activation means engages an outer edge of a full roll of toilet paper that is carried by the holder and is moved inwardly to an on position when toilet paper has been emptied. At least one sound transfer hole is disposed through at least one end of the elongated housing member.

Abstract: It is presented here an invention which aims at providing a simple indicator of direction for the exit of paper and of other materials in rolls of the respective materials installed as rotate reels. The invention is characterised by presenting a column formed by two successive alternate groups of words/phrases and arrows in horizontal lines, informing basically if the direction is correct (1) or incorrect (2), written upside down in relation to each other. The group of words/phrases and arrows can be printed in the involucre of the roll, where many times there are specifications of the product, or can be affixed in the roll.

Abstract: The tubular core of a rolled product (e.g., toilet tissue, foil, plastic wrap, paper towels, etc.) includes an advertising or other display thereon, visible to consumers when the product has been removed from the roll. The display may be applied directly to the core, or to a thin, flexible secondary sheet applied in turn to the core. The core tube with its message or secondary sheet and rolled product may be assembled and cut to length during manufacture. Alternatively, the secondary sheet may have a width somewhat wider than the length of the tube, so the ends of the sheet wrap around the ends of the tube and are visible about the ends of the tube when a rolled product is installed upon the tube. The present invention may be used for advertising, safety, public service, chance means (lottery, etc.) or other messages as desired.

Abstract: A method of transferring component tape information to a component mounting machine, a tape guide for guiding a component tape in a component mounting machine, and a tape magazine for receiving the tape guide. The tape guide is arranged for quick and ready attachment and detachment into and from the component mounting machine. The loading and/or unloading of a component tape into and from the tape guide can be performed away from the component mounting machine. The ability to be releasably mounted is achieved by providing the tape guide with a lock that enables ready and quick attachment and detachment to an interacting lock in a component mounting machine, or in a tape magazine arranged for insertion into a component mounting machine, and a guide for guiding the component tape. The tape guide further includes an identifier for holding the identity of the tape guide, which can be associated with information relating to the component tape.

Abstract: A manual marine winch includes a housing, a rotating drum in the housing, a drum rotating and holding mechanism, and a winch line having a lead in end formed by a webbing strap. The webbing strap can include an integral safety indicator such as load indicating indicia, operating indicia indicative of operating extremes for the webbing strap, reflective material, or abrasion resistant material. The drum may include a slot receiving the webbing strap. The winch line may include wire rope, chain or rope coupled to the webbing strap. The method of tensioning the winch line includes feeding a lead in end of the winch line through the drum, manually pulling the lead in end through the rotating drum removing slack, and rotating the drum.

Abstract: A paper towel dispenser contains an upright roll of paper towels having an inner periphery from which the towels are dispensed. A low-reserve indicator mechanism is affixed to the housing within the chamber for indicating when a remaining quantity of towels in the roll is low. The indicator mechanism includes a sign mounted for movement between a retracted position and an indicating position for displaying indicia through a transparent portion of the housing when the roll is low. The indicator mechanism also includes a release mechanism supported upon an upper end of the roll and movable downwardly in response to becoming unsupported by a diminishing radial thickness of the roll to cause the indicator to move to its indicating position. The indicator mechanism automatically conforms to rolls of varying height and outer diameter.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to advertising inserts, and more particularly to an insert comprising a promotional item such as a coupon or advertisement located inside a paper roller used to carry paper products and the like. A paper roller having an interior, an exterior, and two openings can include a removable promotional item contained in the interior, where the item has a tab used to extract the promotional item. The tab can either extend generally out of the roller, or can connect two promotional items by forming a bridge across the interior of the roller. The bridge will cause the promotional item to be dispelled when it contacts a rod used to support the roll.

Abstract: An improved retractable modem cord device wherein a window in the front face of the case of the device is provided, through which a design, such as a pattern, inscription, or logo can be seen. When a retractable cord of this device is pulled out of the case it causes the design to rotate or spin. Likewise, when the cord is retracted back into the case of the retractable modem cord device, the design spins. Thus, anyone observing the retractable modem cord device will see the spinning design. It is believed this spinning design will be interesting to observers, thus lending special appeal to the device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a tape measure assembly having an internal deployment warning system therein. The device includes a substantially hollow housing having a top wall, a bottom wall, an end wall and a front wall with a horizontal slot between the front wall and the bottom wall. A tape measure having a plurality of marking indicia thereon extends through the horizontal slot and is selectively retractable within and extendable from the housing interior using conventional means currently used in various tape measuring devices. A first magnet is attached to the bottom wall of the housing for securing the housing to a metallic surface. A second magnet is removably attached to the top wall of the housing and has a slit thereon for selectively receiving an L-shaped catch member at a first end of the tape measure.

The adapter incorporates a motion multiplication mechanism such as gearing to drive a detectable element to rotate multiple times for each rotation of the core. The detectable element is positioned opposite a magnetic/proximity detector or optical detector on the host machine.

The operating mechanism includes a line canying spool with a first structure operable for directing line onto the spool. Settable structure on the spool can be placed selectively in at least first and second different states which are each detectable by a user. The settable structure is placeable selectively in the first state to give a user a detectable indication that a first type of line is on the spool and in a second state to give the user a detectable indication that a second type of line is on the spool.

Abstract: A method of operating a winch having a winch drum mounted in a housing to reel in and pay out the cable over a plurality of repeated cycles of use during a period of use of the winch. A digital counter is mounted on the housing so as to be responsive to each rotation of the drum in both directions and arranged to generate a total count during the period of use which is indicative of the number cycles so that the winch can be taken out of operation for service when the number of rotations reaches a predetermined maximum. The digital counter includes a follower contacting a raised portion on an edge of the drum so as to be moved by the raised portion for actuating each count of the digital counter.
