Abstract: In a system for recovery of marine ROVs, an umbilical is wound around a winch drum. A portion of the umbilical has foam floatation segments that may be damaged by wrapping about the drum. A flexible belt is inserted between the wrapped portion of the umbilical and the floatation segments to prevent damage to the floatation segments.

Abstract: Apparatus for exploring the subsoil by means of a string of rods in which the bottom rod carries a tool, the rods being hinged to one another and being wound on a drum, which drum is moved in reciprocating rectilinear motion on a tower and is moved in rotary motion so as to enable successive rods to be lowered and subsequently to enable them to be wound back onto the drum.

Abstract: A method is provided for processing a metal foil sheet to produce magnetic recording media. The method comprises providing an elongate metal foil sheet having a first side and a second side. The sheet is advanced through a plurality of processing stations in equal unit length segments such that each segment receives the same treatment to form a magnetic recording medium from each segment. Method are also provided to prepare the foil surfaces by polishing, texturing, cleaning, and stress relieving, to coat the prepared surfaces with at least one metal layer, to finish the coated layers by buffing, burnishing, and lubricating, and to form disk units from the prepared, coated and finished surfaces.

Abstract: An apparatus for loading and unloading components such as circuit boards from a transport unit to a work station. The apparatus includes a flexible tape which is wound on a storage drum and selectively extended or retracted relative to the drum. Components are included to drive the drum, elevate the extended tape, sense the position of the tape and the like.
