Fabrics Patents (Class 245/2)
  • Patent number: 4239833
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a grid of precious metals for the recovery of platinum metals escaping from a catalyst during the reaction of oxidation of ammonia in the production process of nitric oxide. In the reactions conducted in the presence of the catalysts containing platinum metals at the incandesence temperature a loss in the mass of precious metals occurs, which disadvantageously effects the economy of the process. For the recovery of platinum escaping from a catalyst during the reaction of oxidation of ammonia the grids mainly used are those made of palladium-gold alloy, which, in order to increase their strength, are spot-welded into packs, or the separating grids of heat-resisting materials are used. The known methods of increasing the strength and the durability of the recovery grids are disadvantageous, as the flow of reactants through a pack of grids meets additional resistance, which causes a decrease of the process effectiveness.

  • Patent number: 4122228
Abstract: The specification discloses a reinforcing fabric for concrete or the like and a method for making the same in which stirrup members are joined to the fabric by rigid joining members such that the stirrup members are retained generally in the plane of the fabric. The joining members are bendable, however, such that the stirrup members can be rotated to an erect position projecting away from the plane of the fabric. In an alternative embodiment, individual stirrup projections are joined to the fabric and are made of rigid but bendable materials so that they can individually be bent out of the general plane of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 4038040
Abstract: A flexible fine lattice-like grid structure is formed by etching a metal foil printed with a pattern of intersecting webs crossing at junction points. The sections of the webs extending between the junction points have a length greater than the shortest between the junction points. The web sections between junction points can be curvilinear or made up of a plurality of angularly disposed rectilinear sub-sections. The shape and length of web sections can be varied to achieve different expansion limits in different directions.
