Yard-switching, Centralized Patents (Class 246/182AB)
  • Patent number: 5758848
Abstract: An automatic switching system integrated into freight cars includes a microcomputer for controlling the automatic system and regulating the shunting speed, a rotary pulse generator for determining the shunting distance and freight car speed, distance sensors for detecting the distance to and difference in speed relative to cars in front, an automatic coupling, a brake system for controlling the speed of the freight cars in the shunting zone and precise target braking on the sorting tracks and a data transmission devices for information exchange with a superordinated control station. The automatic switching system integrated into the freight cars makes it possible to decouple the freight cars by remote control, to precisely control the shunting speed, to maintain a minimum distance between the sections for safe setting of the switches, to automatically reduce speed by braking and re-coupling on the sorting tracks as well as to conduct a remote-monitored freight car diagnosis and brake test.

  • Patent number: 4994969
Abstract: A system for automatic operation of rapid transit vehicles in a railway yard. The vehicles have a receiver system which is responsive to information communicated thereto and a control system responsive to the receiver system for controlling the continued operation of vehicle. The invention includes: a first entry/exit track circuit having at least one transmitting system for transmitting vehicle control information to vehicles within its section of the first entry/exit track circuit, and at least one switching system for reversing the first entry/exit track circuit; a second entry/exit track circuit having at least one transmitting system for transmitting vehicle control information to vehicles within its section of the second entry/exit track circuit, and at least one switching system for reversing the second entry/exit track circuit.

  • Patent number: 4770122
Abstract: An arrangement for sorting vehicle bodies by the colors of coating expected thereon in a vehicle body coating line, comprises vehicle body conveying equipment including a plurality of branch conveyers disposed in parallel with one another for transporting and storing temporarily thereon vehicle bodies carried into the arrangement through a bringing-in conveyer and supplying the vehicle stored temporarily to a coating process through a bringing-out conveyer, and a control device for storing therein data indicative of color of coating expected on each of the vehicle bodies on said branch conveyers, with reference to a position of each of the vehicle bodies on the branch conveyers, and driving each of the branch conveyers selectively in accordance with the data stored therein so as to transport the vehicle bodies on the branch conveyers to the bringing-out conveyer in such a manner that the vehicle bodies from the branch conveyers are sorted in dependence on the colors of coating expected on the vehicle bodies.
