Rotating, Vertical Axis Patents (Class 248/131)
  • Patent number: 4659050
Abstract: A rotary support device comprises an annular upper member and an annular under member which are so arranged that their inner or outer peripheral walls overlap each other with a small clearance formed therebetween. The overlapping peripheral walls are bent toward each other to form a pair of retaining portions which are rotatable relative to each other. A plurality of steel balls held spaced apart equidistantly by a retainer are rollably provided between the two members.

  • Patent number: 4568048
Abstract: The invention concerns a device arranged to effect step-by-step turning movement of a stand by means of a piston-and-cylinder unit which performs a reciprocating movement during each operational stroke. For the purpose of obtaining control of movements and retainment of the stand during standstills as well as during turning movement of the latter, the device comprises an actuating arm which is pivotable about the center of the stand, and a carrier member which moves together with the actuating arm and, during turning movement of the stand over the intended distance, abuts against one of a number of fixed impact edges spaced peripherally around the stand.

  • Patent number: 4450975
Abstract: A wall-mountable ash tray assembly, including a one-piece U-shaped bracket having a bight which directly attaches to a vertical support surface. The bracket has parallel arms which project outwardly from the bight and have upwardly opening recesses formed therein. An ash tray provided with cuplike side flanges is removably but securely supported on the bracket due to the side flanges being securely and snugly positioned within the recesses formed in the bracket arms. An article-supporting hook can be positioned to the support surface directly below the bracket. A protective accent plate can also be secured to the wall directly above the bracket in the region adjacent the upper edge of the ash tray.

  • Patent number: 4405046
Abstract: An improved tray attachment for a chair wherein a mounting mechanism for the tray is attached to the underside thereof, and is provided with a pin extending in parallel with one side of the tray, such pins having a free end for being slidably received in a mounting block, whereby the tray may be moved in forward and rearward directions by such slidable movement and may be pivoted to a vertical storage position about the axis of such pin. The mounting block is also pivotally mounted on a transverse horizontal extension of a vertical rod, wherein the tray may be raised and lowered by raising and lowering the vertical rod, and by fixing such rod to an arm of the chair at its desired height. The pivotal connection between the transverse rod and the mounting block permits the tray to be tilted, and a second vertical rod, attached to the opposite arm of the chair, may be raised and lowered to support the tray in a horizontal or tilted disposition.

  • Patent number: 4226398
Abstract: A furniture swivel unit includes a base plate, a swivel plate positioned over the base plate, and a one-piece bearing located between the two plates. The base plate has an upwardly turned flange at its periphery, and the bearing, which may be molded from a low friction polymer, rests on the base plate along the flange. The swivel plate has a downwardly directed hub, the center of which is open to accommodate a retaining washer that is secured against the base plate and overlies a portion of the swivel plate, thus preventing separation of the two plates. The hub, moreover, projects into and seats against the bearing with the arrangement being such that the bearing takes both radial and thrust loading.

  • Patent number: 4213560
Abstract: A mailbox standard is presented which includes a hollow steel post, pointed at one end, for driving into the ground. A collar fits over the post and is adjustably secured thereto by means of a setscrew or the like. Extending upwardly and obliquely from the collar is a truss having an adjustable support bracket pivotally maintained at the end thereof. The support bracket is adapted for receiving various sizes of mailboxes in any of numerous positions of alignment with respect to the post itself. The invention also includes a collar maintained upon the truss for receiving a newspaper receptacle or the like.

  • Patent number: 4026067
Abstract: A plant turntable having a power supply for the rotation of a potted plant and the like. The turntable includes an imperforate disc supported by a ring-mounted ball bearing assembly for the support of the potted plant which is driven by the shaft of a geared motor mounted directly below in a base. A transverse pin through the drive shaft engages a slot in the turntable axle to provide the driving torque for rotating the turntable. The base forms a motor and battery enclosure. The top of the base includes a ridge adjacent to the periphery of the base beyond the rim of the disc to capture water which may gravitate from a potted plant resting on the disc, and further includes a ridge about the motor shaft to protect the motor from water leakage through the shaft hole. The top further includes a plurality of openings for draining water therefrom.
