Patent number: 8789801Abstract: A symmetrical, balanced receptacle for storing, displaying or transporting goods, materials, people, plants or animals is suspended from a double-axis gimbal mounted on a framework. The receptacle is attached to the gimbal by adjustable bearings and a locking mechanism holds the receptacle in various positions, tilted forward or back, and swiveled to one side or the other. When the receptacle is unlocked, gravity holds it level, which is especially useful when the device is used to hold or transport cargo on sloping ground, turbulent water or shifting air currents. The framework may be stationary or attached to a wheeled vehicle, water craft, aircraft or other means of transport.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2012Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Inventor: Alfred Thomas Newman

Patent number: 7997545Abstract: This invention is to an apparatus and method using a pivoting support structure to support mail boxes, newspaper tubes, information signage or decorative materials near a road while being less susceptible to damage from passing vehicles. The invention may be attached to a post, pipe or other vertical structure. Even after the apparatus is installed, the invention has an inherent flexibility to change the original starting position of the mail box relative to the road. Furthermore, the invention acts as a self-centering hinge allowing the support structure to swing in excess of 90-degrees to 180-degrees depending upon installation even while supporting single or multiple mailboxes and/or decorative or aesthetic items. The invention then automatically returns the mail box to its original starting position through the cooperative effort of a spring, gravity and inherent hinge design.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2009Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Inventor: Rodney W. Patent number: 7837159Abstract: A positioning mechanism and a display device using the same are provided. The positioning mechanism comprises a fixed frame, a first buckling element, a second buckling element and a rotary component. The first buckling element is fixed to a first position of the fixed frame. The second buckling element is fixed to a second position of the fixed frame. The rotary component having a positioning pin is connected to an object and is pivoted to the fixed frame, such that the object and the rotary component are synchronously rotated with respect to the fixed frame. The object is in a first positioning state and a second positioning state when the positioning pin is buckled to the first buckling element and the second buckling element respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2007Date of Patent: November 23, 2010Assignee: Qiada CorporationInventors: Chun-Jung Tsuo, Chien-Hung Chen, Cheng-Ping Hsieh

Patent number: 7827717Abstract: A foldable traffic sign system comprises a relatively rigid sign panel and a plurality of folding lines disposed in the sign panel, for permitting ready folding of the sign panel into a substantially smaller configuration. In a preferred embodiment, at least one cut is disposed partially along a dimension of the sign panel, to further facilitate ready folding of the sign panel. One of the folding lines is disposed substantially horizontally across a center region of the sign panel, and at least one of the folding lines is disposed substantially vertically on the sign panel, and intersects with the horizontal folding line. The plurality of folding lines creates a plurality of sign sections, preferably six, defined by a combination of the folding lines and cuts in the sign panel. The sign system further comprises a folding sign stand, and a tote for containing both the sign panel and sign stand.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2008Date of Patent: November 9, 2010Assignees: Traffix Devices, Inc., TTB Products, Inc.Inventors: Guadalupe C. Patent number: 5618016Abstract: A linkage assembly includes a first link connected at a first point to a translation mechanism attached to a support structure. The translation mechanism is arranged to allow the first point of the first link to translate along a substantially straight axis. A second link is pivotally connected at a first point to the support structure, and at a second point to the first link. A second point of the first link travels on or near an arc of substantially constant finite radius when the first link pivots with respect to the second link.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1994Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Thomas A. Patent number: 5209446Abstract: A rotary stand having a base and a turntable connected in a slidable manner at their respective circular faces by a connecting member inserted into an axis and a spacer which has a projection fitted to the outer periphery of the axis inserted into an elongated hole of the turntable, so that the projection is restricted to turn within the elongated hole, while being permitted to turn only in a predetermined area within the guide groove of the base.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1992Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Makoto Kawai
