  • Patent number: 4811987
Abstract: This chair fold flat for storage and shipment, or unfolds and configures for use, in only a few (e.g., three to five) seconds. Even though it is very strong and stable, the chair can be made from one very simple blank of five rectangular panels, two smaller auxiliary panels and a glue tab, using only two glue joints. Its lower portion is a rectangular glued tube with a vertical seat-support panel across the inside, parallel to two of the outer walls of the tube--so that the support panel, though preglued in place, folds and unfolds with the tube. The upper part of the chair is an extension of the tube, but the front panel folds inward, backward, and downward to form a seat that spans the tube, supported by the front panel and by the seat-support panel. The upper part of each side also folds inward and downward, but only above a diagonal fold line running from the upper rear corner of the chair downward and forward to meet the fold line of the front-and-seat panel.

  • Patent number: 4781355
Abstract: A holder for selectively manipulating small format flat objects and large format flat objects comprises a support assembly adapted to pivot between two stable positions. This assembly is formed by first and second members attached perpendicularly to respective opposite sides of a third member. The first and third members form an L-shaped support for large format objects in one of the two stable positions. The second and third members form a T-shaped assembly. A base has an inclined end portion on which the support assembly is pivotally mounted at a point between the second member and the point at which the first member and the second member are attached together. As a result, the support assembly pivots about an axis which is substantially coincident with the intersection of the second and third members. A first of the two stable positions is defined by an abutting relationship between the inclined end portion of the base and the second member.

  • Patent number: 4582195
Abstract: A display unit for merchandise which is stored standing inside the unit strapped between a base tray and a lid tray, capable of being stored, transported and offered for sale via the topside, comprised of paperboard but, folded and glued in such a fashion as to form a block-shaped case. The case has a smooth lower section in which the merchandise can be stored with little lateral play between the side walls and the base tray. The side edges each display two v-shaped notches so that in a first section the side walls can be folded inwards and in a second section above said first section the side walls can be folded outwards approximately horizontally and a top section with vertical sides leading on from the second section.Plastic holders with fingers pointing inwards and a protective surface pointing downwards are slotted through an aperture near the folding line between the second section and the top section.

  • Patent number: 4573570
Abstract: A structural support for a taco, for protecting the taco when packaged in an overwrap, and also serving as a taco stand to maintain an unwrapped taco in an upright position. The support is constructed from an elongated paperboard blank formed into an interlocked structural support with a flat base member and a forwardly projecting front. The front projects forwardly in a substantially semicircular shape such that a taco can be laid on its side on top of the flat base member and within the semicircular front, and the thusly protected taco can then be packaged with an overwrap for sale by a fast food restaurant. The taco support also has a pair of opposed, upwardly facing cutouts therein symmetrically positioned on opposite sides of the projecting front.

  • Patent number: 4556253
Abstract: Lightweight chair from a single unitary die-cut and scored generally rectangular blank of sheet material which is collapsible for easy storing and carrying, and which pops open for easy set-up. The lower 10-20% of the blank has a plurality of flaps gulable to the inner face of adjoining sidewall panels to form a reinforced base perimeter. Half of the blank forms the chair base sidewalls, and the remaining upper half forms a pair of adjoining seat/back panels which are delineated from the sidewalls by a set of generally W-shaped score lines. An assembly tab at one end is fastened to the opposite side of the other end of the blank to form in cross-section an enclosed polygon, preferably a modified hexagon of unequal sides. A first of the pair of seat/back panel assemblies is folded down with one or more tabs or flaps frictionally engaging one or more of the sidewall panels.
