    Abstract: An improved portable stand for followspots is disclosed. The stand has a lower portion resting on a load bearing surface and an upper portion coupled to the lower portion for rotation about a vertical axis. First and second standards extend upwardly from the second portion, supporting the fixture housing between them on tilt pivots, which are aligned on a horizontal axis. The tilt pivots can be displaced vertically relative to the coupling between first and second portions while remaining attached to both standards and housing. The improved stand permits a greater range in tilt angle and tilt axis height, including such that the followspot can be relocated while remaining fully assembled.

The mounting system can include a pan that is mounted to the mounting surface and a rotatable joint positioned within the pan. The cord is attached to the rotatable joint. Rotation of the rotatable joint within the pan enables the cord to extend at nadir regardless of the angle of the mounting surface and without kinking of the cord.

Another embodiment has a square nut that is seated in a bracket when the rod is passed through a bracket slot.

The fastener can be a screw or a bendable tab that is manually bent to hold the door closed.

Attached to the pivot arm is a weapon hook, which swivels horizontally. The rest is suitable for a variety of weapons, and is easily installed or removed. The apparatus does not harm the tree.
