Patent number: 4155531Abstract: A plastic hook mechanism which inserts into a piece of cardboard secured to an item of merchandise is disclosed. The cardboard is secured to the merchandise by wrapping both the cardboard and the merchandise in a clear plastic which is subsequently heat treated to shrink it. Thereafter, the plastic hook is inserted through the sealed plastic and into a hole in a crease formed by a folded-over flap at one end of the cardboard. The hook is collapsible so as to fit through the hole even though the hole is far smaller than the hook's shoulderlike support members. After insertion, the hook's shoulders resume their uncollapsed shape and support the cardboard piece, while the hook protrudes through the small hole to allow the plastic wrapped merchandise to be hung on a display rack.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1978Date of Patent: May 22, 1979Assignee: Plasticolor Molded Products, Inc.Inventor: Gordon Bagne

Patent number: 4118000Abstract: Apparatus for supporting a member from a drop-tile ceiling is characterized by a decorative escutheon having a recess therein sized to receive a resilient grasping element and to guide the grasping element for movement against the bias of its resiliency from a first, open, to a second, grasping, position. In one embodiment the grasping element has a threaded extension extending therefrom which is engaged by a hook structure such that engagement of the hook with the threaded extension draws the grasping element into the recess to move the grasping element from the open to the grasping position. In another embodiment, the grasping member has a threaded nut thereon which receives a threaded element insertable into the escutheon such that progressive threaded engagement draws the grasping element into the recess to move it from the open to the grasping position.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1977Date of Patent: October 3, 1978Assignee: George C. Patent number: 4094488Abstract: A hanger for any string-type game racket such as a tennis racket has a body member which conforms to and engages an upper, curved edge of the frame about the face, opposite the handle end of the racket. An open, clothes-hanger type hook attached to the upper end of the body permits hanging the racket in a conventional clothes closet on a rod therein, whereby the racket is safely stored while occupying a minimum of useful space. The racket is attached to the body by any convenient means such as pressure sensitive or contact adhering tape, for example, flexible straps of synthetic two-part tape, the parts of the tape being attached to the hanger body and engaging and removably adhering to one another to capture the racket therein, either engaging one another through the openings between the strings of the racket or by one of the tapes passing through the frame among the strings and to an opposite side of the body.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 1977Date of Patent: June 13, 1978Inventor: Neil Bryant

Patent number: 4073243Abstract: A high temperature industrial furnace roof assembly wherein two refractory bricks are held in adjacent position by suitable securement and have a hanger rod extending from the assembly to suspend the roof assembly from a support structure in desired position in a furnace roof. The hanger rod is maintained in locked position when the weight of the roof assembly is placed upon it. The hanger rod may be depressed into the refractory bricks permitting free rotation of the hanger rod with respect to the hanger and brick assembly and locked into desired position at 90.degree. increments by a force applied to the hanger rod in a direction away from the brick assembly. The roof assembly of this invention is particularly desirable for furnace roof repair and provides for easy installation in operating high temperature furnaces permitting the long axes of the repair assembly to be changed on the jobsite by rotation of the hanger.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1976Date of Patent: February 14, 1978Assignee: Merkle & Associates, Inc.Inventor: Frank P. Patent number: 4068817Abstract: A suspension hanger suspending a light weight point of purchase display in a manner that will permit swinging and turning of the display by slight air currents that are normally present in the surrounding atmosphere, and which will permit simple lowering of the display in the initial installation, or thereafter, to bring it to its desired height. The suspension consists of a vertical helical spring by which the display is suspended to permit oscillation of the display about a vertical axis, the spring being of a small diameter to permit swinging of the display, and being of a material of a low modulus of elasticity so that upon the exertion of a comparatively small pulling force in excess of the weight of the display the spring is stretched beyond its elastic.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1976Date of Patent: January 17, 1978Inventor: Sol J. Berger
