  • Patent number: 6640509
Abstract: An adjustable length bracing device can be installed in a window frame or door frame to secure a sheet of covering material that is positioned to protect the window or door from flying debris resulting from a hurricane, tornado, or other storm. The brace device consists of two independent and moveable bars, which can be adjusted to fit the inside of a window or door opening. The adjustment is made by the use of a metal clip attached to one bar and inserted into a notch on the other bar. The ends of each bar have rubber pads to help prevent marring the window or door opening or frame and to prevent any slipping of the bracing device assembly. Once the assembly is in position, a locking metal ring holds both independent bars together to prevent movement.

  • Patent number: 6571691
Abstract: A wire tieing system for wrapping and tieing a bale of material with wire comprises a wire guide for guiding a wire around a bale of material and a tieing head configured for receiving portions of a wire in the guide and securing the portions together to thereby tie the wire and therefore tie a bale of material. The tieing head is pivotable with respect to the wire guide and is operable for being pivoted between an operating position proximate the guide and a maintenance position away form the guide. A head pivot assembly maintains the tieing head in the maintenance position. The head pivot assembly comprises a support block and a locating pin which are operably movable to engage a portion of the tieing head when the tieing head is pivoted to the maintenance position to prevent the head from pivoting back to the operating position.

  • Patent number: 6443413
Abstract: An improved adjustable jack stand combines a ratchet and pawl height maintenance mechanism with a pin and hole mechanism wherein the holes in the post coordinate with the teeth in the post so that any engagement between the pawl and a tooth ensures that a pair of holes in the base and the post are aligned to receive a pin. Additionally, the pin defines a circular cylindrical shape, and each of the pin support sections likewise defines a corresponding bottom half of a circle, thereby exposing the targeted hole in the ratchet bar for easy viewing by the mechanic. An elongated tether is provided and has one section connected to the body and another section connected to the pin.

  • Patent number: 6371422
Abstract: A length adjustable bar for mounting within a window opening to secure a protective panel therein includes a substantially hollow outer section having an inner section telescopingly received therein. A plurality of gear teeth are longitudinally disposed on the inner section. A cam is pivotally mounted to the outer section and includes gear teeth thereon that interengage the gear teeth on the inner section when the cam is rotated to a first position. The cam is rotated with a handle having an aperture thereon that aligns with apertures on a pair of spaced tabs when the cam is placed in the first position to receive a locking means to fix the bar at a select length. The design allows the bar to be extended to substantially the same length or width of the window opening. By pivoting the handle downwardly, the geared cam extends the inner section slightly to tightly wedge the bar within the opening.
