If deceleration or acceleration of a value not smaller than a predetermined value is applied to the vehicle seat, the screw is urgently locked to thereby maintain the current position of the vehicle seat or the current angle of inclination of the seat back.

The first nut members are fixed to a floor of the vehicle. The second nut members are attached to the seat through linkages. A clutch body of each nut member can be, by a clutch operation mechanism, selectively switched between a movement state and a non-movement state. In the movement state, a clutch body of the clutch mechanism is positioned at a second shifting position and the nut members are engaged with and longitudinal moved along the threaded operation shafts.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, the linear brake includes a carriage riding over a threaded rod. A pair of jaws is carried by the carriage and each jaw has a jaw face at one end thereof. Each jaw is adapted to rotate in a plane of engagement. Each jaw has, spaced from the jaw face, a hole normal to the plane of engagement. The carriage includes pivot pins having an outside diameter smaller than the hole such that the jaw recesses move both rotationally and laterally away from the threads on the threaded rod when the brake is released. A spring forces the jaw recesses into the threads on the rod. Counteracting forces, applied by pulling cables, move the jaw faces away from the threads and then partially rotate the faces in the plane of engagement away from the threaded rod thereby allowing linear travel of the carriage along the threaded rod surface.

    Abstract: A latch structure for a seat slide structure includes a latch member pivoted to the base wall of the movable one of a pair of track members and having a latch portion extending inwardly of the one track member and provided with at least one latched tooth engageable within openings in the track members to releasably latch the track members to each other. The latch member is biased to a latched position by a spring anchored between the latch member and the one track member. Where a pair of spaced seat slide structures are each provided with latch structures, simultaneous movement of the latch members of these structures to released position is effected by interconnecting the latch members with a slightly slack cable. A release lever is coaxially pivoted with one of the latch members and mounts a pulley engageable with the cable to effect shortening of the cable intermediate the anchored ends thereof and simultaneous movement of the latch members to released position.
