    Abstract: In accordance with the aspects of the present invention, an improved book holder for reading in bed is disclosed. The present invention includes a base panel, back panel, central slotted unit and moveable plexiglass plate rectangular in shape. Movement of the plexiglass plate to the different slotted positions allow the invention to accommodate books of any size. The user of the invention reads through the plexiglass, including the top edge thereof, to see the printed material on the open page of the book. The plate is not so large as to cover the entire printed page(s), reducing the size and weight to the invention and making it highly portable and storable.

Additionally, the stand 10 has a front 13 and rear 15 side with the front side having opposing pivotal leafs 14, 16 increasing the article support area, which provide means to accommodate various size music books while limiting the consumption of desk space. The hinged panels include non-slip pads 30, 32 at each end to provide both improved stability of the stand and protection of the desktop surface. The construction of the music stand 10 may include separate hinges that are bolted or riveted to each panel or may include preformed hinges that are integral 40 to the panels.

The deck can be selectively detached from the base in order to reverse its orientation with regard to the base and allow the platform to be switched from one thigh of the user to the other. A structure for preventing the input device from falling off the platform can be included. A rest for an operator's appendage can be located on the deck top surface. The height and angle of inclination of the deck can be adjusted, if desired, in relation to the base.
