  • Patent number: 4917342
Abstract: A stand-up label or sign holder for use in supermarkets or bakeries is made of plastic sheet material and has a base panel at one end, a label or sign holder panel at its opposite end and an elongate stem connecting the panels. The base panel can be used to support the holder by folding the base panel at right angles to the stem so that the holder stands on the base panel with the stem extending upwardly toward the holder panel. The holder panel can be bent back toward the base panel to stabilize the holder. Also, the stem has lengthwise ribbing which promotes transverse bowing of the stem so as to resist lengthwise twisting or bending. The label or sign holder panel has tabs for retaining a sign or label. If the holder is made of transparent plastic, the sign or label is visible from both sides of the holder panel.

  • Patent number: 4817905
Abstract: A display device includes a planar display panel, having a display side and an art side, supported at an angle by an angled leg secured to the aft side by a hinge having first and second portions. The first portion is resilient and is secured to the leg near, but spaced apart from, the free end of the leg. The second portion has a first part, secured to the aft side, and a second part, between the first part and the hinge axis, free of the aft side. The leg is movable between a folded position, in which the leg is adjacent the aft side and the free end of the leg is between the hinge and the aft side, and a use position, more than 90.degree. away from the folded position, in which the leg lies at an angle to the aft side with the free end out from between the aft side and the hinge. In the use position, the first hinge portion is flexed and tends to bias the second hinge portion towards the aft side while the hinge itself tends to straighten out, thus biasing the free end towards the aft side.

  • Patent number: 4742629
Abstract: An easy to assemble picture frame is formed of double sheet material. The double sheet material has two parallel sheets with spacers forming parallel channels between the sheets. The material is die cut, and the material can be cut except for one sheet to form a natural hinge. A frame is cut to receive a picture, and a backing holds the picture against the frame. The backing can be hinged to the frame and either held by a clamping arrangement or frictionally engaged with the material. A base can be hinged to the picture frame, and malleable wires in the channels of the double sheet material hold the hinge in the desired position. A notch may be provided in the backing, and a rigid stand can be received in the notch to support the frame. In some embodiments, a transparent clamp holds the frame and backing together and provides a protective panel.

  • Patent number: 4357769
Abstract: A picture frame for photographic snapshots having a rotatable easel of thin, lightweight construction mounted to the back side of the picture frame. The easel has a substantially trapezoidal shape when folded and has rectangular front and back panels having a common top edge and collapsible, triangular side panels interconnecting the front and back panels. The side panels may be folded, collapsing the easel into a flat structure for easy packaging and shipment. The side panels when unfolded form an easel for holding the picture frame in a stable, secure, upright position on a tabletop. The easel design of the invention produces an unusually stable structure for its weight. It does not collapse upon moving the picture frame in any direction on the table surface. The easel may be rotated to permit display of snapshots in either a horizontal or vertical orientation.
