  • Patent number: 4915332
Abstract: A portable pool cue holder comprises a hollow cylindrical member and a retractable support assembly which comprises a plurality of legs that are biased open by compression springs and hinged to an assembly head; a collar that is inserted over one end of the hollow member having slots which guide the legs' extension; an inner retaining plate for limiting the extension of the support assembly and an annular member which engages a ledge above the foot of each leg and prevents the longitudinal movement of the support assembly out of the opened end of the cylindrical member. At the collared end of the cylindrical member, a cap is pivotally attached to the end of the collar for closing one end of the holder and prohibiting extension of the support assembly when the holder is not in use.

  • Patent number: 4771978
Abstract: An articulated vertical support stand having an articulated base plate for holding and supporting cut trees or staffs having an irregularly shaped, curved or twisted trunk in a substantially vertical, upright position. A horizontally oriented base plate having a central opening is supported by three support members pivotally and removably attached to the base plate at points equidistantly spaced about the periphery of the base plate forming joints allowing articulation therebetween. The support members having sharpened spikes protruding from their upper ends for engaging and gripping the lower portion of the trunk when the lower portion of the trunk is inserted through the opening. The base plate includes a plurality of cam means pivotally attached to its lower surface for engaging the lower portion of the trunk protruding through the opening.

  • Patent number: 4763866
Abstract: A collapsible support stand is disclosed which has two sets of opposing legs extending radially from a hollow cylindrical hub support. The stand may be collapsed to a closed position where adjacent legs are substantially parallel or to an open position where adjacent legs are substantially perpendicular to one another. A pair of opposing legs form an integral unit with a hollow cylindrical center joining the two legs. Each of the remaining opposing legs form upper and lower circular collars, which fit about the upper and lower ends of the cylinder. The caps are secured about the circular collars to hold them in place and secure the stand while allowing the pivotal movement.

  • Patent number: 4699347
Abstract: A tree stand, as for Christmas trees and the like, having in its preferred form a circular base with three legs extending upward in tripod form to an apex where a clamping mechanism is located. A ball is securely held between a clamp base located atop one leg, termed the socket leg, and a clamp top; the clamp top being located at the upper end of a clamp arm, an elongated member which pivots on the socket leg and whose lower end is spring biased away from the socket leg, thus forcing the clamp top upon the ball. The clamp, and thus the ball, is temporarily released by foot pressure on the lower end of the clamp arm, allowing alignment of the tree. The ball, with an attached tapered mating groove housing, is removably connected to a tree bracket having a tapered plate attached thereto. The tree bracket itself is laterally curved with protruding spikes formed on its inner surface, and is strapped to the side of the trunk to hold the tree securely. The tree stand may be reduced in size for storage.

  • Patent number: 4594805
Abstract: A support device for a fishing rod to keep that rod and an attached reel out of engagement with the ground. The device is comprised of an elongated base member having a length of about 18 inches and a fixed wall at one end as well as two pivotal walls, one attached at an intermediate position, the other attached at the opposite end. The intermediate wall is positioned from the fixed wall a distance of about 25% to 30% of the length of the base member and the height ratios of the fixed, the intermediate and the end pivoting wall is approximately 1:3:12.

  • Patent number: 4479322
Abstract: A holder/carrier is foldable into either an open or a closed position for respectively holding or carrying a fishing rod having at least a handle portion and a staff portion. The holder/carrier comprises a base for preparing bait, extensions mounted to the base and extended forwardly thereof for preventing tip-over of the base, and upstanding members mounted near a front edge of the base. Hinges and spring locks mounted near the front edge of the base keep the upstanding members upright and maintain the holder/carrier in its open position for holding the fishing rod. Lock knobs and ball snap locks mounted near a rear edge of the base lock the upstanding members folded down and maintain the holder/carrier in its closed position for carrying the fishing rod. A handle is mounted near the rear edge of the base for transporting the holder/carrier in its closed position in a briefcase-like manner. The base is a flat, horizontally oriented, cutting board.

  • Patent number: 4450653
Abstract: A knife sharpener, comprising a sharpening rod mounted in a base, includes a first expandable position for storage as a compact unit.Wing members project laterally from a central member to provide stability during use, but are retractable into a cutout in the central member for compact storage. The wing members are drivingly connected to a support block for mounting the rod, so that when the wing members are positioned for use, the rod is rotated to an upright position. However, when the wing members are retracted, the rod rotates to a horizontal position, within a recess in the central member, for storage. The knife sharpener includes a rod mounting assembly comprising a sleeve, having a diameter larger than the rod, to permit the rod to be inclined, in any direction, at a predetermined angle relative to the sleeve. This predetermined angle is adjustable by rotating a plug, threadedly mounted in the sleeve.
