Abstract: A post and ground support is illustrated utilizing a helical member forming an auger for digging the ground support into the earth, and easily removing the ground support from the ground and reusing said support in another location. The ground support includes a ground engaging stabilizing member affording resistance to a force having a component at right angles to the post, and a breakaway connection is provided between the ground support member and the post, together with a connection for retaining the post in a position near the ground after separation therefrom. The breakaway connection positions the post upon the ground support above the ground and separates in response to a force coming from any direction about the post. A shear pin having longitudinally flat surfaces extending circumferentially thereabout prevents turning of the post with respect to the ground support and a groove extending about said flat surfaces assure uniformity of shearing from any direction in which the force is applied.

Abstract: A universal mounting stake assembly for installing one or more electrical junction boxes, terminal boxes, or Subscriber Network Interfaces (SNI's). The assembly comprises a specially configured ground engaging stake, an appropriately configured receiving plate adapted to be coupled to the stake, and an optional driving cap. The stake includes a plurality of regularly spaced apart plate receptive notches, a service wire receptive channel longitudinally coextensive with its length, and a plurality of regularly spaced apart stud receptive fastener orifices for locating a stud which will secure the plate after installation. The plate comprises a variety of adaptably configured orifices enabling a variety of SNI or similar devices to be easily affixed thereto. The receiving plate is attached to the stake by fitting its tabbed, flanged end to an appropriate user selected pair of stake notches.

Abstract: This invention relates to a device which serves as a stand for a golf club. In addition the device can be used to mark the location of the ball, clean the accumulation of debris from the bottom of the golfer's shoe, and clean the debris often formed on the face of a golf club. The device consists of a rod with various bends so as to lodge a golf club. The rod is covered with a frictional material to aid in the balance of the golf club. There is a first vertical member which is used to stand the device erect in the ground. Above and connected to the vertical member is a C-shaped frame which is used to support the shaft and head of a golf club when the club is not in use. The first standing member has a spiked end for facilitating the insertion of the device into the ground. The spiked end is also used to remove dirt and grass from the sole and heel of the golf shoes, as well as to scrape dirt that may be lodged in the grooves of a golf club's face.

Abstract: A ground-anchoring device for anchoring a pole in the ground, comprises a post formed with spiral threads at one end for threading into the ground; a socket at the opposite end for receiving an end of the pole to be anchored in the ground; and a pair of arms pivotally mounted at the opposite end of the post from a horizontal position facilitating the rotation of the post to thread it into the ground, or to a vertical position. The pair of arms include clamping elements movable to a releasing position with respect to the socket when the arms are in their horizontal positions, or to a clamping position when the arms are in their vertical positions to clamp the pole within the socket.

Abstract: A support device for fitting to the end of a tubular member, such as an umbrella pole. It includes a cone-shaped body having a base and a pointed tip. An external screw-thread extends spirally on the cone-shaped body. A cylindrical connection member extends from the base of the cone-shapoed body and is adapted to be fitted into an open end of a tubular member. Two substantially flat surfaces extend from the base to the tip and define an acute angle between them and interrupt the screw-thread formation into interrupted thread sections. At least one connection recess is provided in the cylindrical member for receiving an associated projecting part extending from a tubular member, such as a lower end of an umbrella pole, for locking engagement therewith.

Abstract: An anchor for holding an awning in position. The anchor includes at least one auger and one bracket. The auger is screwed into the ground leaving exposed an upper section which has an eye portion. The bracket is a U-shaped bracket which is adapted to fit over and attach to the eye portion of the auger. The bracket is adapted to accommodate viarous sizes of awning post.

Abstract: A low voltage light fixture (10) including a bulb/lens assembly (12) mounted atop an integral post/stake assembly (14). Post/stake assembly (14) includes a hollow tubular portion (20) and a ground stake portion (22). A preferred post/stake assembly (14) is formed from a single piece of plastic, and consists of a pair of elongate legs (94, 96) which are joined to a female adapter (90) through the use of a pair of "living hinges" (100). To assemble post/stake assembly (14), it is merely necessary to draw legs (94, 96) together until a pair of locking fingers (104) extending from leg (94) engage a pair of slots (110) formed in the other leg (96). Light fixture (10) also preferably includes a unique internally ribbed lens which includes a large plurality of internal side ridges (114) and a smaller plurality of top ridges (116).

Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a ground stake having a channel-like cross section, a lamp socket mounted to the stake, a lamp element engaged to the socket, and a power cable connected to the socket and extending within the channel of the stake. The lamp socket has spike contacts within lamp cores which pierce the narrow edges of the power cable to provide electrical contact from the power cable conductors to the lamp element.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a base support for an antenna mounting post and a method of installing the same in the ground. In one preferred embodiment the base support comprises two clamping members which may be positioned and secured about the outside diameter of a post after the post has been inserted into the ground to the appropriate depth. Each of the clamping members includes a pair of angularly adjustable guides each adapted to receive and support a rod that is driven into the ground to provide stabilizing support for the post. The angularly adjustable guides allow the rods to be driven into the ground at a variety of angles and, in the event an obstruction such as a rock is encountered while driving the rod, the rod may be withdrawn, the angle of the guide altered, and the rod reinserted into the guide and driven into the ground once again.

Abstract: A device for articulating a base of a mast for raising a mast carrying an antenna into an upright position, the device comprising a mast-engaging member which includes a collar (6) provided on one side with a means for affixing the base (2) of the mast to the member and, on its other side, is provided with two parallel depending plates (8), each having a slotted opening (10), said openings (10) open out at free ends (9) of the plates in order to form a pair of spaced forks, the openings being at least equal in size to the diameter of a journal (11) having a horizontal axis and supported by a stake means (12) that is fixed to the ground (4), whereby the forks permit the member to be articulated about the journal.

Abstract: A boundary marking system comprising cylindrical receptacles having relatively large plates flush with one end and adapted to be installed in the ground with the plate at ground level. A marker stake which is color coded to the top of the plate is placed in the receptacle through a hole in the plate so that the stake extends a foot or so above ground to mark a boundary. Because of the color coding, installation and replacement of the stakes is facilitated. Moreover the particular character of the marked boundary may be perceived not only by the color of the stake, but also by the color of the flush plate even if the stake is missing. A hole maker to facilitate installation of the receptacle is also disclosed.

Abstract: A device for supporting at least one surf fishing rod at an appropriate angle for fishing to alleviate the need for the person fishing to hold the fishing rod while fishing. The device is adjustable to allow the fisherman to adjust the direction of the rod or rods. The height of the device is adjustable for the convenience of the person fishing. An additional rod support means is provided to facilitate rod preparation. The entire device is constructed to be water-tight and contains a flotation insert to prevent the device from sinking in water. In an additional embodiment, the fishing rod holder may be used as a handle for a bait bucket fitted with wheels.

Abstract: An anchoring device for fence posts, guard-rails, tents, garden greenhouses and the like includes a sleeve which is fluted on its inner side and provided at its bottom with two intersecting arms forming a stop device for the bottom end of the post upon insertion into the sleeve. Furthermore, the sleeve has at its bottom end a cylindrical wall formed with downwardly facing serrations to facilitate rotation of the sleeve into the ground. An anchoring member detachably fixed in the sleeve is bored into the ground for anchoring the anchoring device together with said cylindrical wall.

Abstract: A post support comprises an elongate ground engaging portion, preferably a cruciform cross section, capable of being driven vertically into the ground, and a post engaging portion attached to the ground engaging portion and in the form of a hollow box section for receiving one end of a post to be supported in a vertical position and with its axis substantially parallel to the axis of the ground engaging portion, wherein the hollow box section is formed with means, integral therewith, other than means for adjusting the size of the box section, for enabling an undersized post to be rigidly supported in the box section and/or for removing excess post material from an oversized post. Means for removing excess material from an oversized post may comprise a bevelled edge formed on the top surface of at least one wall of the box section to present a chisel edge to a post being driven into the box section.

Abstract: A convenient and versatile realtor sign system is separable into components which are easily carried in an automobile trunk or back seat compartment. The sign is easily set up at a property site with a desired number of stacked auxiliary sign sections containing various indicia. A convenient low effort driving tool for the ground penetrating main standard of the sign is included. The main sign panel is attachable to the realtor's automobile door through the same apertures which connect the main sign panel to the separable ground-mounted support structure.

Abstract: A flag staff having a hollow end coupled with a ground embeddable support means. The support means is in the form of a ground penetrating blade having a shaft above ground which couples with the hollow end of the staff. A foot engagable rod is secured and extends laterally from the support means so that foot pressure can be used to force the blade into the ground. The rod also serves to limit depth of penetration.

Abstract: An integral one-piece fishing rod holder having a Y-shaped configuration formed by an elongated stake adapted to be inserted generally vertically into the ground and a pair of arms extending upwardly outwardly from a junction zone formed by the upper end of the stake and arms. An elongated vertically extending slot is formed in the junction zone of the Y-shaped holder for receiving and supporting a portion of a fishing rod therein. A curved passage is formed in the junction zone and extends partially along one of the arms and communicates with the elongated slot below the top of the slot. The passage and slot form a downwardly extending projection in the junction zone which retains the rod within the slot if a force is applied to the fishing rod when the rod is unattended. A curved notch is formed in the top edge of the junction zone to provide a casual support for the fishing rod when attended by a fisherman.

Abstract: A fishing rod holder comprises a tubular body, an upper bracket assembly, and a lower bracket assembly. The upper bracket assembly comprises first and second upper bracket arms carrying hooking elements of a sufficiently small thickness to readily pass between the window of a vehicle door and the outer portions of the vehicle door. The lower bracket assembly comprises first and second lower bracket legs carrying feet for confronting the outer surface of the vehicle door. The hooking elements are capable of being wrapped at least partially around a horizontal railing portion, and the lower bracket members together define a U-shaped configuration capable of straddling a vertical railing portion. The holder includes a sand spike flexibly connected to a point proximate the normally lower end of the tubular body. When the sand spike is driven into the ground, the upper bracket arms extend generally downwardly to the ground and thus define with the lower end of the body a three-point support for the fishing rod.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved fishing rod holder which is especially useful for holding and tending a fishing rod when surf fishing from a sandy beach, or when fishing from an earthen shoreline. The invention also provides an inexpensive method of producing the fishing rod holder of the invention from readily available materials.

Abstract: A removable sign post holding apparatus including a body portion having a post-receiving opening, a plurality of ground-engaging sections extending downwardly from the periphery of the body portion, a connector section extending outwardly from the said body portion, an opening in the connector section, a removable cap portion engageable with the post-receiving opening of the body portion, the said cap portion including an anvil section of a size larger than the opening of the body portion, a plurality of flange sections extending from the anvil section, the flange sections being of a length adjacent the anvil section to mate with the corresponding portion of the body portion with which it is engageable.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a sign support collapsible for transport and which is conveniently adjustable to accommodate signs of various dimensions. The sign support comprises an assembly of an L-shaped upright provided with a pointed spike at one end and with a cantelevered foot extension by which the uprights may be driven into ground. Formed in one surface of the L-shaped uprights are a plurality of elongate, longitudinally aligned and longitudinally spaced slots each dimensioned to receive an offset clasp extending from the back side of a U-shaped lower sign channel. An upper sign channel, similarly U-shaped in section, is provided with an L-shaped clamp on the back side thereof terminating at the free end in a split circular hoop which, at the juncture of the split, extends in an opposing tab for grasping one of the surfaces of the L-shaped upright.

Abstract: An artificial aquarium plant which includes an anchor in the shape of a narrow, elongated trough having a generally V-shaped cross section. The ends of the anchor are diverging downwardly to form scoops at the opposing ends. Transverse connecting walls define storage cells therebetween to receive the anchoring material, such as sand, for retaining the anchor at the bottom of an aquarium tank. A hollow tubular post provided in the anchor includes a restraining shoulder in its hollow portion. The plant member includes a bifurcated stem which can be inserted into the hollow post, and a ledge or lip section on the stem which engages the restraining shoulder to prevent removal of the plant member from the anchor. A package is designed to retain the artificial aquarium plant where the anchor acts in such a manner as to avoid crushing of the plant member.

Abstract: A portable holder for one or more fishing rods is disclosed and comprises two or more rectangular plates fixed in vertically spaced, parallel relation with respect to one another by means of an elongate shaft which is pointed at its free end to provide easy penetration into the earth at a shore fishing location or the like. The uppermost plate or plates is provided with a pair of through bores positioned apart a given spacing to either side of the shaft axis. The lowermost plate is provided with a pair of blind bores arranged at a closer spacing to the shaft axis than the through bores of the uppermost plate or plates such that fishing rods supported in the holder are inclined outwardly at an angle with respect to the shaft axis. Preferably, the holder is formed of plastic or wood and may be integrally molded or assembled from its component parts.

Abstract: A surveyor's rod apparatus including a plurality of sections which may be selectively connected together in end-to-end relationship to provide an elongated surveyor's rod that is visible over relatively long distances regardless of obstructions including vegetation and terrain between the rod and a sighting or surveying instrument. At least one section of the rod includes a leveling device to make certain that the rod is disposed along a vertical axis in the plane of the sighting instrument. The lower section of the rod is selectively connected to a base in a manner such that the base may be used for providing a flat area on which the base is subsequently located, or the lower section of the rod may be connected to the base in a manner that the base may be driven into the ground at a fixed location.
