Patent number: 5979837Abstract: A mobile overhead cable distribution system for an office or the like, comprising a plurality of horizontally elongate cable supporting elements connected horizontally in series and supporting thereon horizontally extending power and communication cables. A plurality of mobile and freestanding post assemblies are rollingly supported on a floor and projecting upwardly for supportive engagement with the cable supporting members to maintain the cable supporting members in upwardly spaced relation above the floor. Each serially-connected pair of cable supporting members has adjacent end connecting parts which are horizontally swingably supported on one of the upright posts adjacent an upper end thereof.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1998Date of Patent: November 9, 1999Assignee: Haworth, Inc.Inventor: Clarkson S. Patent number: 5952609Abstract: An overhead traction wire support which including a first plate and a second plate, the first plate having on at least one side at least one leg which can be fastened to a ceiling or a wall of a structure. A second plate, which is made of an electrically conducting material, is held at a distance from the first plate via at least one insulator. A current conductor, along which a current collector can slide, is fastened in an electrically conducting fashion to the second plate on the side which faces away from the first plate, and at least one current amplification line is arranged on the second plate parallel to the current conductor.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1997Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Assignee: Siemens AGInventor: Nikola Uremovic

Patent number: 5897081Abstract: A method of replacing an existing telephone pole having a terminal box mounted thereto is disclosed. The terminal box is dismounted from the existing telephone pole. The terminal box is then permanently suspended from at least one overhead cable. A new telephone pole is installed, typically at some distance from the existing telephone pole. The existing telephone pole is then removed. A rigid suspension bracket is usable in the method for suspending the terminal box from the overhead cable. The terminal box is suspended in approximately the same location as the terminal box was mounted to the existing telephone pole. This reduces the stress on a splice and eliminates the need to recondition the splice and replace the terminal box.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc.Inventor: Stephen J. Patent number: 5782440Abstract: A system for holding a plurality of low voltage telecommunication cables, or other data transmission cable, together in a compact unit and attaching the cabling to a suspension wire held in tension. The suspension wire secured to various portions of a building structure such as a ceiling, a wall, floor joist, and the like. In a primary embodiment, the system includes at least two anchor eye bolts secured to the building structure in a spaced relationship to each other. An end of the suspension wire is attached a first anchor bolt and a second end of the suspension wire is attached to a tensioning ratchet. A ratchet handle is used for engaging the tensioning ratchet and tightening the suspension wire to a desired tension that will allow the wire to carry data telecommunications cable. Bundle tabs are wrapped around a portion of the cables and the suspension wire for securing the cables together and suspending the cables from the suspension wires.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1996Date of Patent: July 21, 1998Inventors: Jane E. Patent number: 5747731Abstract: A device for use with one or more similarly constructed devices for spacing a utility wire from a supporting cable. The device has a top portion defining a U-shaped configuration including of opposite sides and of a bottom wall adapted to receive thereon the utility wire. The bottom portion has opposite side walls and a bottom wall adapted to receive thereagainst the supporting cable. The opposite sides of the top portion are spaced from another a distance so as to allow nesting therein of the bottom portion of a superposed similarly constructed device. A series of these devices may be nested together so that the spacing of the utility wire from its supporting cable may be varied in accordance with particular requirements.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1997Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: IPL, Inc.Inventor: Gaston LaCasse

Patent number: 5743300Abstract: A flexible plastic water tube which can be stored on a roll has a flexible but substantially inextensible line member attached to it and can include a number of pre-attached drippers. The tube can be stretched between spaced apart supports with the line member preventing undesirable sagging. The tube can therefor be made from inexpensive thin walled plastic.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1997Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: PPI Corporation Pty. Ltd.Inventor: Paul Anthony McNeill

Patent number: 5678609Abstract: An aerial duct having a first duct in which a support strand is contained for aerially mounting the aerial duct, and a second duct in which an inner duct or liner is contained through which a transmission or other cable is strung. A multiplicity of support strands or several braided support strands could be contained in the first duct. The first duct and second duct are joined by an intervening web so that the first and second duct have substantially parallel longitudinal axes. The inner duct has spaced apart ribs formed within its inner surface. Valleys are formed between the spaced apart ribs and adapted to retain lubricant placed therein for facilitating the passage of a transmission or other cable through the inner duct. The ribs can be either longitudinal, corrugated or spiral. If desired, the aerial duct and support strand could be made of an all-dielectric material.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Assignee: Arnco CorporationInventor: Robert B.
